  1. Hi Ian, My mate Farmer Boyce's combine has lots of chain tensioners which are made from nylon & don't rotate. the chain side cheeks cut grooves in the nylon, which guide the chain and the chain rollers then run on the tensioner. I suppose a piece of oak fencepost, etc would do at a pinch. As the tensioner doesn't rotate it wouldn't matter if it touched the casing, drill the bolt hole eccentricaly for adjustment, and put as many as you like on to support the chain,in fact they don't even have to be round!!!
  2. I was going to use it for a Bonser style truck for the stables, but then I gave the axle away. After seeing the Villiers powered motorcycle: It looks to old to call it a motorbike, I wonder ????????
  3. It's an Albion gearbox: 3 forward-1 reverse, belt input-chain output, clutch operated by hand lever, gear change by lever.I fell over this in the garage looking for some parts for Ian.[=5048:P1020107.JPG]
  4. Good idea :hide: Look at all the tax revenue the treasury is losing by all the uninsured car driivers about. How can we possibly pay MP's saleries & expenses without something like this
  5. A small local show, just up he road.A few pics for your enjoyment.missed the shoot out, wouldn't want to fight any of the salloon 'girls' there!
  6. I don't know about 'handbrake', I think you'll be using both hands and another part of your anatomy to hold on!
  7. Lister D, Leave the bonnet off and say it's 'unstyled'
  8. Your relying on two mugs, sorry, passengers, being available at the same time to keep it balanced! If the driver/pilot/? sits on one of the outside seats he would be able to see to steer when in wheely mode,it would need those steering brakes though, and blindfolds for the passengers! So you could be back to zero steer with casters on the seat backs.
  9. I may have a couple of spare 12" wheels like the ones with the ag tyres on, you could widen them or swap the centres over. or you may be able to bore a pair of wheelhorse hubs to suit the reliant shaft.
  10. 'WOW' makes my MS440 look like a toy! When that thing's in action this is where I would be!
  11. Hi Ian, got PM, sorting it out, Renewing bearings on the BCS flail, pics of the drive pulleys, no keys, the bore of the pulley & the outside of the centre piece have matching tapers, the screws pull the two together very tightly. I assume no keys to allow shock absorption by slipping . I wonder if something like this may help prevent the taperlock breakages you are suffering ? With a lathe I would think they would not be too difficult to makeif an immovable object is encountered
  12. And this was a "quiet" sale, the one before had 900 odd lots in the shed alone!
  13. Hi Nigel, when I hear from Ian regarding where to send the propshaft to, I'll put the pump in with it,is there anything else of the engine you need ? regards Doug.
  14. try "googling" sawman bury st edmunds.
  15. Hi Nigel, Does this look like the bit you want? and who's Kim? I was given the engine for nothing,so if it will help you out,
  16. Back again, General Lee has been recovered (again) by the RAC. Bryan came round for advice. I asked the question and came away with a propshaft with duff u/j's
  17. Many Happy Returns!
  18. Hi again, The chap with the Reliant can't use a phone let alone a computer, When he was busking, people would film him and put it on yt. You may find his clips easier by "Googling" "sawman" instead of searching in yt. There are I think a half dozen clips. He goes under the alias of "Bryan Brynn" he thinks the taxman will be after him! You wouldn't believe it but he makes anything from £25 to £70 in an hour. people probably pay him to go away.
  19. Hi Ian. These are the wheels and tyres I was going to use for the axle, I suddenly remembered I had them, fell over an old engine and snowblower to get at them, You may guess where they came from by the lot numbers! the wheels I think came off a late old type Mini 12" with a reinforcing plate on the back.
  20. Thanks Neiil, there were a couple of Trojans in the Cheffins sales last year, one made £525, the other made £1800!!!
  21. We saw a similar thing to your last 2 pics on the way to the cambs show, only it was an austin/morris 1100 at the side of the road cooling down. Great pics!
