  1. I have always rated the Kubota garden tractor as the best on the market. I have bought several new ones over the years when I worked for the National Trust. Always reliable and does what it's supposed to do. I am trying to persuade one of my customers to buy a B series Kubota as the old Iseki one is beginning to play up.
  2. Ian, I look forward to seeing your new videos from your new shack. BTW is the music Metallica?
  3. Excellent news! Another vintage garden tractor in action. I will expect the same thoroughness on my 1254!
  4. Good news Daniel and a great photo too.
  5. Have you got this up and running? I have never seen one of these before.
  6. Daniel, How did you get on with the new lines being put in etc? Cheers Andrew
  7. Koen, What Morris have you got? Cheers Andrew
  8. Oops! pAre you sure you didn't ring one of those lonely heart adverts?
  9. This afternoon due to inclement weather, I jet washed the cylinder mower to remove the accumulated grime, shot some grease where needed and sprayed some lubricants over the cutters. I wiped the whole deck over with an oily rag to add some protection. The prop shaft/PTO shaft was also greased as well. Everything seem to be moving freely. I will apply some linseed oil to the wooden roller later on once it's dry. I have yet to mount it to the Bolens 1254.
  10. I have just subscribed to LAGT magazine for a year's subscription. I am a bit anxious as I hope she has all my details correctly and I thought the Americans were good on customer care?! She wasn't exactly friendly on the phone but she did wish me a 'have a good day' at the end. Maybe I am being paranoid.
  11. It would be great to see some photos of your Bolens collection.
  12. Just as an aside, a while back there was a dedicated monthly magazine covering all the Morris Minors varieties but this folded due to lack of interest even though the MMOC is the third largest club in the UK. I didn't buy it myself as, to be honest, it was the same old same articles pumped out as it were. As for a horticultural stand alone magazine, I agree with Wristpin there is just not the readership ou there. I will be buying the American Garden Tractors magazine to further my knowledge.
  13. Looks to be a tidy example and all running as well. A good find I would wager.
  14. The ploughing look very good to my untutored eye. The countryside look like the Russian Steppes with all that sky!
  15. My late Godfather also served in the Paras at Arnhem but he was one of the few that evaded capture. The sad thing is that the end of WW1 essentially started WW2 and that there has been conflicts ever since. I am always moved when I visited the War Graves and see the rows and rows of headstones and walking under the Memin Gate at Yyeps.

    Bolens 800

I spent a part of the day rearranging the garage to house the new Bolens and the attachments I have accumulated. I connected the battery up, added some fresh petrol, checked the oil and fired her up. It took a few minutes but eventually she fired up and she was loud. I let her run for a few minutes to warm her up before I drove her around the close. I have to say that the pepper pot exhaust is very loud! She droves well though and I am sure with regular use it will run as sweet as a nut. I am really pleased that it's running without any issues. More importantly, I am pleased to report that my wife has taken a shine to it so perhaps I can acquire another example?
  17. Hello Daniel, a very simple thought but how old is the fuel ? because as you know modern fuel goes off very quickly. Popping and banging is one of the signs of old fuel. Just a thought. Also change the HT lead to see if that makes a difference too.

    Bolens 800

Thanks Iain; always useful to have an original one to compare. I have spotted one on eBay but it's from the States... I hope to have a little bit of time for myself to give it a run and a check over. Cheers
  19. I browsed through the latest copy yesterday at my local WH Smith. Some good articles on old farm tractors but very little on garden tractors and related machinery. I agree with Paul, save your money.
  20. No worries; look forward to seeing a photo of it whe n it's uploaded sometime. Thanks
  21. Iain, can you upload a photo of the Haban flail mower just out of interest. Thanks.
  22. James, is this a pedestrian flail mower that you will be converting to an attachment for your WH?
  23. James, I take it that the extension will house your growing collection............
  24. Chris, I have just watched Ian's Wheel Horse video with afront mounted flail mower. They do look rather awesome. Sometime, I regret to say, size does matters..... Be interested in seeing this sometime.
