  1. The Compact III is just the series of O&R engine rated for 1HP, earlier engine series were Compact I (¾HP) and Compact II (0.85HP). The oldest ¾HP engines didn't have Compact decal and are occasionally misdescribed as 1HP on auction sites. Later they changed to using Series 13A for all 1HP engines with that style of starter and 13B for 1HP engines with the square spring housing type starter. There should be a model letter or type number stamped into the mounting flange on the exhaust side of the engine (later engines had this information on the alloy cylinder plate which often go missing), I do have information for most O&R's but oddly Devillaine is not in the list. Here is an older engine showing the type on the mounting flange. And a later 13B engine with the type & serial details on the alloy cylinder plate (or cooling baffle as O&R called it). Hopefully that will help with finding another engine, if you decide not to rebuild the original engine. Personally I would try & restore the original engine, as it's part of the history of your car and the serial number tied to that engine helps date the whole thing. David
  2. Here are the screws (the nut is only required for engines with the condenser/capacitor fitted behind one of the starter screws) & a pair of starter dogs, I've sent a private message with more details. David
  3. That starter housing will only fit the early engines with the screws going in from the rear, they are extremely hard to find without buying another engine and should be kept for restoring early engines, I guess you haven't come across an engine with a damaged one yet. I've had many with them damaged. David
  4. This is the one I have, just unpacked it to find out which parts were with it, the paint looks more faded than the pictures show (really needs a repaint). It should fit your engine, there are another two different styles of starter for earlier & later engines, which is why I asked for the pictures. Later ones with the square spring housing will not fit, nor will early ones due to differences in the magneto coil. Please let us know if you need the starter dogs as there is only one in the bag, a pair is used. Also do need the screws? The ones in the bag maybe longer and need cutting to match the original ones. David
  5. Looking through the information I got from @Webhead I can confirm the military version of the Kenco pump uses a Type 133 engine. David
  6. True, along with some of the mini-bikes there will always be lots of interest in them, unfortunately I need to invest in property as I desperately need a bigger workshop space and more space for my collection (instead of renting storage). The date seems correct if it's the original engine (sn 100701) , the engine dates from very late 1965 and by the time it wound have taken to ship a batch of them over from the US to France, it would have been built into the car in 1966. David
  7. They probably had a version with an electric motor, but offered this one use in remote/rural areas where electricity wasn't available. Seems we don't have a thread (that I can find with the forum search) for the Beacon Star Saw, but I did find one here that @Wallfish has; The ePay link was sent to a me as well, but I didn't have the computer on at the time and didn't see it till a day or two later, good to see it went to someone on here. Been a bit busy lately helping my Dad sort through the estate of my late Gran, they kept everything it seems, but we do now have a lot of family history we didn't know about before. David
  8. Oh man, 2 of them. Please let me know if this ever becomes for sale!!!! I would love to import one of those to the USA Here is another thread with a reminder of how much they make, way more than I can afford. David
  9. As the ePay link is now dead, here are some pictures from that listing, it was for the remains of two of these cars, some parts had been repaired and a couple of the pictures clearly showed a lot of the parts used for these. David
  10. Nice to see a couple more of those, thanks for adding the pictures of them. That does look in poor condition, the alloy housing is intact but all the steel parts have suffered badly, springs can be found but the bearing for the starter reel are not seen very often and that one has rusted through. If you had access to a lathe I'm sure those could be made along with new rollers for the rope to pass through. I do have a spare starter that I had wrapped & boxed up for another guy on here, but they never came back to me, would need to check if it's correct for your engine. Are the starter dogs also missing, as I can't see them in the pictures? David
  11. That's looking very nice now, I agree it definitely looks better with both lights. The type of gas tank depends if you look at the advert or other bikes, the advert shows the standard O&R tank but pictures of two other bikes show the slightly larger/longer tank, which might be easier to fill with gas. This view shows two gas caps, one for sealing it for travel (probably best drained as well though) and the other with the usual vent hole? Both have a little chain attached. David
  12. @viault Would it be possible to service the starter from your O&R, or is it completely missing? If it is missing please post some more info & some pictures of the engine so we can identify the correct one needed. David
  13. Welcome, you just need a little patience to find a suitable O&R engine, one with a reduction gearbox output of 1700RPM or less and a clutch fitted, Model H or Type 195 would be good, but for some unknown reason the 900RPM Model J is far easier to find (maybe lots of never started or completed mini-bike projects ). You may also find the Speedy Sprayer compressor needs servicing, they have a rubber diaphragm, I don't know what the filter is made from but it would be a good idea to replace it if it's aged badly & gone crumbly like the O&R air filters do. Here is an exploded parts drawing of one of the Speedy Sprayers from another forum: David
  14. There was another link to a Warn blog post with the adverts for the Warn winch in this thread here; Interesting that the boxed one shows a Cox engine instead of the O&R, I bet they hadn't noticed that. David
  15. I've moved several posts about a different water pump to a new thread here; David
  16. It's definitely a Kenco water pump, question is does it have the model number or other details on the pump? A previous thread had a link to another Kenco model 61MX3 that had sold on ePay many years ago, can you confirm if this number is correct? Sadly the pictures were too small to be much use. Second question, can you find a model/type for the engine? This should be stamped into the engine mounting flange on the exhaust side. I suspect this is the military version we were trying to find more information on, American Kenco Inc are listed on military parts lists that have been digitised & copied by loads of websites. Hopefully you had a look through the carb repair thread before running the engine. David
  17. I suspect mine didn't get much use before the starter broke or maybe the gas cost more than what they managed to recover with it? You might be in the right area to find one of these Keene sluice boxes to go with it (the 30" by 6½" version according to the catalog you have). David
  18. Hope all is good with you! That's a tough call to do all that @JUST O&R Hope all is well with the move to take care of your family. I've been through similar looking after my Mum, before it became too much for all of us & the home-care. It's winter here too, but I need to work outside when cleaning O&R's and it's too cold or rainy at the moment, but I'm keeping busy indoors with some vintage electronic projects, the most recent is a nice late 1940's or early 1950's (not sure exactly but it contains some WWII surplus parts) GEC condenser & resistor test bridge, here it is testing one of the failed capacitors that came out of it, need to go test some O&R condensers & coils now. David
  19. Nice find, I have one of those too, the starter spring was removed, I guess they broke it & never got round to fixing it. The seller also had the matching sluice box but sold it separately. I think most of these suffer from problems with the plastic impeller. David
  20. I don't know what your buyer was expecting for £16 , but that Turbair sprayer clearly needs a full restoration, but at least it's got the carb & air filter, those are more commonly missing and worth the sale price alone. David
  21. It should clean up well, far too cold this time of year to do any cleaning though. Do you have any pictures of your TAS P7 ice auger? I couldn't see any when I had a look through the thread before posting, you were asking about the type of spark-plug for it, this TAS P7 drill has an NGK B7S if that helps. David
  22. A new addition to my collection is this TAS drill which was a Christmas present, the engine is a TAS motor P7 but the starter looks a little different from the other two drills on here, possibly a later version? David
  23. That looks very nice, I couldn't find anything to match those feet either, but did buy some that were much too small. If you want to sell a few of the Palnuts I could use some, I suspect others may want them too. David
  24. Both supplied by Orline products, I guess these would match the pictures in the articles (neither are mine). David
  25. Looks very good Paul, what happened to the damaged tank? I now have some more information for the Aquabug's to scan in at some point. David
