Another of the Showman's little jobs today, along with his Bolens wind up, was to change the steering lock / ignition assembly on one of John's Marina's. I was amazed at how quick he did it especially as the shear bolts used on assembly leave nothing to get a spanner onto and are in a recess in the casting. When asked how he managed it so quickly, his face turned as red as his new Wheelhorse tea shirt and muttering under his breath, said that it was best if I didn't know. After bribing him with more tea he said he had to get home somehow after spending all his money on late night sessions with booze and blondes in his teenage days, and that other drinkers were left wondering where their cars had gone. His effort today resulted in this Marina having a working ignition system and with a bit more work will spring to life again.

Chris couldn't wait to get home to start a wind up. Think all the tea he had today made him hyperactive and caused his brain to go into overdrive.

Another good few hours at John's thanks to Chris, Matt and Dad. But is that really me on the Roper. I don't normally look that clean.

While at John's yesterday we decided that as there was nothing else left to find we would try and find something else. There is / was a tangled pile of drain pipes, plastic pots, tins, angle iron etc partly buried in undergrowth at the front of the barn. So out came the digger and with Chris practicing his lever twiddling skills, helped with a bow saw, cutters and our hands, the green stuff was cleared. The first new find was a David Brown attachment of some sort. Took a bit of removing from the roots of a tree. The hydraulic ? motor at the end would have revolved via the hand wheel. No idea of it's use although I expect someone might know. The only other find today was this grass cutter. Approx 5 foot wide. Wheels still turned although one is badly bent as another tree had grown attached to it and put up a good fight. It was VERY hot but Chris thought he would be cooler in the digger as he had the roof acting as a shade. He found out he was WRONG and finished up looking like a boiled lobster. Now, what else can we find. Where else can we look.

Never seen one in use Norm, but as you say like a hoover. A flexible pipe can also be fitted into the opening at the front for getting into less accessible areas. Just like cleaning a house but mainly used for leaves as far as I know.

Three Billy Goats which have been lurking in a lean to hoping to avoid being seen. 2 x 5hp 1 x 3hp Spares or repair. Two engines pull over. The starter cord on the third is fully extended / jammed. No bags or suction hoses. £30 for all three. Collection from near Cranliegh, Surrey.

Along with other bits and pieces which I am slowly clearing from friend John's land are these three Westwood's. All in poor condition but should yield some good spare parts. All engines turn by hand. Some of the many faults include broken track rod, one gearbox jammed in gear, flywheel missing, broken steering wheels etc. 2 x 8hp and 1 x 11hp. One has the early ? style gear lever and the under slung exhaust. As said, for spares unless someone fancy's a restoration project. £60 for all three. Collection from near Cranliegh, Surrey.

Chris. You thought the big roller at John's was too heavy for Pam. How will she manage this one.

No idea Norm. Can't remember when leaded was phased out and unleaded came in.

OOP's, so I did.

This Marina was MOT'd nearly 10 years ago. John drove it to the MOT garage and I drove it back home. It has not moved since. That is until Chris got it running again late last year without much trouble. Moved from under a lean to and parked in John's workshop. Started up again today and after Chris had a play and drive around, well it is RED, and you KNOW he likes RED, we washed it and had a photo session prior to advertising in between the rain drops. Clock reads about 17,000 which is believed to be genuine, but the MOT has probably expired by now.

And me.

No decks on any of the 4 Westwoods Chris. Only decks left are 1 Wheelhorse ? and the black one of unknown make.

Congratulations Matt and Mrs Matt. Now the fun begins. Wifey and I have a 10 month old grand daughter who we often baby sit. Crawls in top gear / high ratio and trying to stand. Great fun.

Could see that you liked it Paul. The look on your face while riding around was a good clue. Now, who is looking for a Raider 10 ?

Finger looks nasty Ian but look on the bright side. The blob of weld might have landed on your wedding tackle instead of your wedding ring.

Another good chin wagging and pottering around day. I finally arrived home about 11.15 pm after going to collect wifey who was baby sitting baby grand daughter and WAIT ...... ING for baby's mummy and daddy who arrived back home hours later than planned. Nice to see Paul again, OK, Chris too, but a shame that the Easimow had self destructed since we last saw it. Paul was on the Sears / Roper like a flash of lightning for a ride around but Chris had to visualize something RED before he had a test drive. Thanks again Paul and Chris for another good day.
