Small Hayter Engine, a different problem.

Recommended Posts

I bought this second hand after a lady tried to renew the primmer bulb with a hammer and chisel. The carb was mutilated. Sent off for a new replacement which was cheap enough. Would it start !!!! NO. It started with the primmer fuel then cut out straight away. After a bit of head scratching I discovered that the main jet had not been drilled out at the factory. I fitted the old main jet and it started first time and ran great. Thought I would share this with the forum members : ) Don't take anything for granted, I had the same problem with a pilot jet on my Lambretta.

It was a pattern part, however some parts were in fact brass in lieu of B & S plastic, it was well made apart from the main jet. I was not going to throw a lot of money at an older engine.
