I spoke to Carol yesterday and she said no flowers, Norm would have hated the waste of money, but any donations to Cancer Research, a family member has terminal cancer..

She's was calling Norm an old bugger because she'd been in his shed and found out how many tractors he had. She didn't know. Wonder what else she'll find.

Hi All, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Stormin Norman Dainton died from a stroke last week. Sounds like it was sudden
I knew him from the Land Rover community but know he was on here fairly often.
This was him and Carol on 4th August this year when he visited us in Mid Wales. My wife tried to poison him with spicy foreign muck (Spaghetti Bolognese), he'd never had spaghetti before.
A true gentleman with a dry northern wit and will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

Nice work Chris. I sure do miss wrenching on tractors , but I’m glad that I can still enjoy watching others.

I had to leave this for a few days as i had other commitments namely mot on the Sprinter and the Chevy .
Im sorting out the transmission that seems to be weeping oil and the hitch pin is rusted solid which will need drilling out.
I pulled another box out but thought I'd carry on with the original.
I had to leave it over night to let whatever was in it to dribble out, it certainly wasn't sae 140.
I cut through the pin each side to remove the hitch and spacers the cut it again near the casing, drilled a hole through the pin using 3 different sizes drill bits then nocked it out.
Ive ordered some new axle seals from Toro and think i have the others in stock.
Next job will be to remove all the pulleys and hubs and clean it up.
Heres some photos of today's activities.

Now the disruption of Christmas is over its back to the shed.
This is a Raider 10 thats been in the back of my woodstore for a few years and during my rebuild on the Raider 12 ive been piling bits together to put it together.
Had a bit of a late start as i had to clear all the sawdust after sawing up a load of wood during the last couple of days.
This is as far as ive got today apart from the chassis is now sanded down to bare metal

Well new to me. I received a Canadian made 1975 Homelite XL-123 a few weeks ago, run great and yesterday I received a 1972 Homelite XL-103, both are 57cc auto oilers weighing right at 11 lbs. Really stoked to get these great looking hard to  find saws.

My friend has some old Homelite saws and I know one of them is #1 real old #2 it's big. I even want to say it has a 36" bar and it screams when it wants to run. Another thing he has is a hydraulic driven two man chainsaw  . I think it's a Von Ruden . It's all self contained as one unit . There's a pump that hooks up to a pto and tank that sits on the ground or mounted. Two hoses go to the saw . The teeth on the saw if I remember correctly are like a 1/2" wide and the bar is 48" . Definitely something you'd not want to getaway from you  . I found a blurry pic of one in use and a smaller saw with tank pictured .

Thanks, I have a chainsaw project waiting as we speak in the form of a large Maple tree the tornado knocked down, just beside our home. I'm waiting for it to dry a little and the weather to cool. I'll have those shelves filled before long, lol

Well Alain! Impressive collection, the old ploy of buying a lot of shelving initially worked ok then ! ..........
Give's you the ready made excuse when your Wife asks why so many Chainsaws ? .....is that you have to fill all the shelves with them !! .........
The only downside I can see (if there is one) is that you will have absolutely no excuse to avoid cutting up the Logs by saying you don't have a serviceable Chainsaw!
There's still some gaps to fill on those shelves though  .
