I’ve a Mustang Mowett that’s looking for a new home . It’s a complete machine and runs and rides . My daughter used it in the arena at a couple of shows last year .

The paint has dried enough to get a few more bits bolted on, the driveshaft and chain sprocket with the new bearings fitted.
i can now fit the new chain and align the other sprockets, hope to get the mounting bracket and drive belt pulleys on today

    All well loved!!!
The last one is a Briggs, the Villiers with the reduction box and double pulley, possibly came off a farm bale elevator or even a soil screening trommel  - who knows. The SIF s are what they are, -  plenty around . The little two stroke , I think more likely off a small 1950s cylinder mower - another who knows?!

All of the new wires are here now for the new loom I just need to make it . Still had no luck with an ignition switch for it .

I’m going to try to keep it as original looking as possible to start with . If not I’ll look at that set up . I’m useless with wiring . Making the looms not too bad as I have the old one to copy 😂

Got the voltage regulator and solenoid off I’m trying to work out how to test them and hoping they are fine . Any tips on testing ?

My 1969 Bolens 1476 Hydrostatic with the 14 hp S-14D Wisconsin has a 48" shaft drive deck that I can mow the cow pasture and not have any issues, three foot grass isn't a problem, I have 27"x 9.50"- 15" Duro Frontier All Terrain tires on the back and original Goodyear 5.30-8 tires on the front. The hydro unit holds 11 quarts of transmission fluid inside a solid cast iron rear end and trans axle and weighs a little over 1,000 ponds without a deck or implements; I have two of these. My 1973 Allis Chalmers 416 Shuttle has 48" belt drive right hand discharge deck and a 16 hp single cylinder cast iron Kohler K341 engine mated to a 4 speed Hydro, Yep, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear is both infinite forward and reverse. Rear tires are 25"x 10"-12" Carlisle All Trails with 25 pounds of weights on each wheel with 4" axle extenders to give it a real wide track or you can remove them and install them on the outside to mount a set of dual wheels, Fronts are smooth ribbed 16x6.50-8 for easy turn and easy on the turf. This machine was only built one year and I have two other A/C 416s true Hydro units as well. These are the two machines I use to mow this year, next year I will charge two more for mowing duties. This keeps them up and running, but not overburdened.

Cleaned the flywheel and coil and couldn’t see a spark but got a Jult of the plug when I held it and pulled it over . Cleaned the tank out and got a load of crap out . Now not sure if I’m getting fuel in the carb that’s my next step .

In my experience 90% of the time cleaning the points will get the spark back. Hope the carb is ok as that type can be a bit of a  pain to work on and tend to leak fuel when the engine is not running.

Looks like a B and S off a merry Tiller, the only cut out is the little flap next to the spark plug.
Firstly try the obvious, clean up the plug and check the plug gap or try a different one, then take off the cowling and clean up the coil where it meets the flywheel,  and check the gap between coil and flywheel.
They are fairly bombproof engines, so if you still have no spark, it is probably the coil.

I’m going to get it all stripped and cleaned then test the parts as this has the magnito system rather than the normal coil .

I’ll jump onto there site and have a good look I’ve found the correct wiring diagram it’s the early one with the magnito . I’m aiming to get it ready for Easter next year .
I’m 99.9% sure the engine will run so im not too worried about that . I’m not going to go through everything getting it all cleaned up and working then I’ll strip it back down for full paint .

That is interesting as it is not where I expected it to be, although it is a far better location because you have the space to fit a modern equivalent if it is broken.

Well after being ribbed at the weekend for using a flymo I picked this 1976? Webb 2hp up on a selling site for £25 . Very pleased with it as it runs well I do need to try to work out how to slow the drive down on it as it takes off a bit faster than I can move 😂

I’ll have another look shortly lots of stuck bolts so I’ve soaked them all to try to stop any shearing off . I’ve got the exploded  diagram of the dyna start so I may strip it and clean it if I get no joy once I power from the solenoid.

I spoke to Iain and he suggested that you start looking at the dyna start to see if it runs and work back from there. The ignition switch can also be a cause of it not starting as can a dud solenoid. I can't see why you can't connect your jump leads on the solenoid to see if that works. The seized pto and high / low lever should not impede firing up the engine.

I think it will always stay a little bit of a mystery as I don’t know the full history of the tractor . I’m going to leave it as it is rather than plate it up and try to run with what I have . It looks like the bonnet and exhaust are least of my troubles it looks like the hi-lo and pto mechanisms are seized up and that may be why I can’t start it up ?

Yours a 1966 model 191-01 but it has the cut-out like a 1967 model 191-02.  Either they started using the cut out on the later 191-01 hoods or yours hood is from a later model, hard to say which. if you google the image you will see the pepper box should exit the bonnet centered on the hole. later modifications to many of these old machines manifold pipe has resulted in a off center placement
