Terry M reacted to Wristpin in what sparkplug
Strictly speaking, that is not correct . An extended nose plug may be either hot or cold as may be a plug where the insulator surrounding the centre electrode is more or less flush with the plug body.
The determining factor that defines whether a plug is hot or cold is the length of the insulator in contact within the plug body. The more of the space taken up equates to greater ability to loose heat - a colder running plug; and the bigger the gap the lesser ability too loose heat - a hotter running plug.
This may explain it better.

Probably because non driven chevron tyres run and steer better that way

Thats a great idea!
Matt
Its still not running as good as I would like, but its running much better than it was. I'm confident that with a bit more tinkering, it will run perfectly. Here is a video.

Maybe you could start a new trend Matt. Custom painted hand tools.. Any color you like as long as it matches what ever else you were spraying at the time

The wait is over.
Thanks Ian, and I've lost count! I know I'm over 40, but would need to take inventory to know just how many.
Alright, here is the video from today, and as expected, it fired right up, and ran great. Just need to get a couple more things, and it will be done. Sorry for how shaky the video is. Youtube can fix the shaky, but then its blurry, so I decided to keep the shake. I'll do better next time.

Terry M reacted to Wallfish in 2 seat show cruiser
The original was sold at the big Wheel Horse show in Pennsylvania a couple years ago to the president of the WHCC. I kinda miss it so I decided to build another one close to original as I can. Hope to have it done by the end of June so I can take it to the big WH show to see it's older brother.
Here's a pic of the progress so far. Got the lowered front axle done, most of the frame welded up, most of the offset steering and the firewall.

Terry M reacted to nylyon in RedSquare information
This Saturday, May 16th, RedSquare will be going through a software upgrade. As most of you are aware, MoM and RedSquare are sister sites and share the same physical computer server. While this upgrade will not affect MoM, there may be periods of time where response time is sluggish simply because of the shared environment.
RedSquare members, like what you see here? Please sign up, be glad to have you here as well, but remember this is for ALL machinery, not JUST Wheel Horses
Now for the question you may be thinking... YES, MoM will be upgraded to the same software as well. Originally I wanted MoM to be first because it's smaller than RedSquare, but the forum skin for RedSquare was done before MoM's (which hasn't been updated yet). So after the upgrade pop over there and take a look because when everything is sorted, MoM is next

Terry M got a reaction from amcrules00 in Building a basement fireplace
Wasn't sure where to put this post...and it wasn't my idea to invent the fireplace...but it was my idea to build one in my basement. I started building this gas fireplace a few years ago and I've done everything myself so far Including building the room its in. so here are some older pics I found of it somewhat close to being finished. I will show the finished product sometime in the near future when its done.

Terry M reacted to stevasaurus in Re-upholstering Dining Room Chair
Usually these chairs just have a piece of plywood for the seat wrapped with some kind of fabric over some padding. Not this one! When I took the fabric and padding off, I found a different design. The frame had some good cracks in it, so I needed to rebuild it. Used just about every wood working tool I have. The rest of the chair was in great shape and just needed to be cleaned and waxed.
I had a couple of pieces of yellow pine laying around, and I figured I could rip it down to size and stay away from any knots.
After ripping, I used a bevel guage and a trim saw to cut the 4 pieces.
Checking the dry fit and they are ready to glue.
After the glue dried, it was time to cut the notch around the outside of the frame. The outside sits on the frame of the chair, and the inside sits on the corner blocks and gets screwed to the chair. I used the table saw to cut the notches out.
I then checked the fit and marked the holes and drilled them for the screws to hold the seat to the chair.
I then used a router to round the top edge.
The original had a piece of 1/8" plywood over the hole in the frame...so I cut one of those.
Time for the fabric. I cut 2 pieces of 1/2" foam for the padding, and I am using some black vinyl for the cover. The fabric gets stapled to the bottom of the cut notch...first the front, second the back, and then the sides while making a nice corner.
And here is the finished project. Thanks for looking.
