I have a section of sidewalk and patio that are cracked/broken and need cut out and repoured, so i took that as a reason to buy this 1978 Homelite XL-98C at 70.00. It wasn't much more than the rental would have been, so I get another old saw for the collection and force myself to repair the concrete

What we call a disc cutter. Take care, they can bite.

It said Multi Purpose Saw on the sticker, so that's what I called it. I never knew what they were called, I heard them called concrete saws, but I've seen ride on concrete saws too.

Another example of different terminology from across the pond!

Not just for concrete or stone, with the correct disc, steel and other metals as well.

Hence the term, multipurpose.

I've used similar on concrete and steel. As you said Angus, they can bite. You need to keep a good grip on them.
