Recommended Posts

The speed your going Matt your have it all painted and bolted back together by the end of the weekend :D

Wow, your confidence in me Ian, is appreciated, but all back together by this weekend?   I think I may let you down! :yankchain:

Looks great mat keep it up!

 Thank you Sir!

cant wait to see the finnished tractor matt :)

Thanks Nigel, and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished tractor myself!

your doing the 444 proud well done matt

 Thanks, I appreciate it.

Looking good

 Thanks Mark.

Well, the frame and wheels got painted today, as well as a few other bits, and pieces. :woohoo:  The paint job is far from perfect, but it will be a good looking working class tractor. The lights in my shop always give everything a yellowish tint, but after I take all the tape off, and put the wheels back on, I'll role it outside, and take a few pics in a more natural light tomorrow.

Thanks Neil, and if you look at my location on the members map, you'll see I'm as far south as you can go in the US, so we haven't been getting that weather. We've only had one freeze this winter, and its been 85* the last couple days. I was sweating in my shop yesterday, and you could actually touch some of the paint before I left. Thanks

looking good matt :england:

 Thanks Nigel!

Well, I got the tires back on it today, as well as a few other things, like tie rod ends, steering wheel, dash decal, motor mounts, etc...   I think I'm really going to like this machine.  Here are a few beauty pics I took out in the sunshine today.

Looks great in daylight, loving the rear ags...

Thanks Mark, and I'm partial to the ags myself. :)

I didn't do much today, but I did bolt the engine up to it, and took a few measurements for the exhaust stack. Here are a couple pics. Thanks

Matt ,i wished i had the same time to dedicate to my projects as you have ,  how do you find the time to go to work ?

Will almost be a shame to get her dirty .

Neil, all you have to do to have more time for your projects, is to push aside everything you need or should be doing, and do what you want to do. :yankchain:  Not really, but it does require some creative use of your time. I made most of my progress on the weekend, and putting the engine back on yesterday took less than an hour. If I can find an hour or two a day, and do alot on the weekends, then the projects move along well.

This 444 is going to get dirty Neil. Back when I started this project, my plan was to repair the engine, and anything else that needed attention, give it a rattle can paint job, and put it to work, but one thing lead to another, and well........  You know how it is. I'll take good care of it, but its going to be a worker.

Neil, matt lives over 1000mls south of me, he wouldn't know what to do with a day that was 14* below zero, like my Monday morning was. We've had over 40 days of below zero nights here and some days haven't been out of  the singles. No tractor work is going on here, due to the cost of heating the sheds.

What do you mean, I wouldn't know what to do at 14* below zero?! I know exactly what I would do. I'd move the tractor into the house, and set up shop right in front of the fireplace!  :D

I played with the exhaust a little today. I temporarily put the ugly hood back on for test fitting the exhaust, and once I had it where I liked it, I welded the muffler to a piece of 1" pipe, so the muffler will just screw on. Hopefully I'll get the time to paint the hood, fenders, etc.. this weekend.

Ah now i understand how you been getting your heat to dry the paint Matt, you got one of those gas blaster heat jet thingys next to your tractor :D

Dooo! You figured out my secret!  :yankchain:  I have been known to use it to speed the process up a little.  That heater puts out 175,000 BTU's of heat, but it drinks diesel fast than an 8v71 Detroit!  :banghead:

Hi

In a pic above, just behind the Case I see a big mower which looks like a Promaster Gravely. Is that right?

Its a Toro Groundsmaster with a mitsubishi K3D diesel. There is a thread on it here in the ride on"s section.   http://myoldmachine.com/topic/333-toro-groundsmaster/

I finished making the modifications to raise the fenders, and everything fit well.  I took a couple pics when it was assembled, so you can see the clearance between the fenders, and tire. I also bolted a new seat on, just to see how it would look. Hopefully it will get painted this weekend, although I still have alot of sanding, and decal removal before that can happen.

Well, I got the rest of this beast painted today!  :woohoo:  Got all the sand colored parts painted today, or actually the correct Case name for this color is Desert Sunset. I managed to get all these parts painted right before it started raining. The paint turned out pretty well, but it wouldn't be one of my paint jobs if something didn't land in my paint!  :banghead:  You'll notice in one of the pics, there is a small green leaf in the paint on my hood.  :jaw:  I decided not to mess with it today, as I usually just make things worse when I try to remove things when the paint is still wet. Anyway, here are a few pics. Thanks
