Received the engine and parts today. Thank you Wallfish! Will need to look over engine and parts diagram to see where those parts relate to. Damn putting things back together is so tedious some times. Think there will be any issue using parts cleaner on donor engine?

David, I hope your absense is not serious. Thanks for the info. That tool is about what I was thinking of. Thought what I made was "L" shaped. Was thinking over the problem of torquing. Think I have an old 1/2 inch drive 7/8 socket I could grind a slot into to accept the bar stock and then use my torque wrench to tighten properly.

Thank you Wallfish. I have few strap wrenches. Should be able to get one of them to work. But I do think I made something out of bar stock somewhere that might work. Probably on the work bench.

Thank you Wallfish and Just O&R. This is great information. I have been looking thru my tools to see what I can make into a tool to loosen/tighten the cylinder head down with. Thought I had a plumbing type spanner wrench somewhere that would have worked.

One thing I forgot to mention was I noticed the cylinder head was loose after it shutdown. I was able to unscrew by hand when disassembling. Not sure if the head needs to be torqued when reassembling.

David, I will check on that when I reassemble. Taking it apart I was not sure how the game engaged the throttle. Not a very positive connection.

Yep, no noise just reved up then shut down.

Wallfish, man you are fantastic. Will PM you shortly. David that engine/generator turned out great. Here are pics of the engine disassembled. Included pics of debris from damaged bearing cage and piston.

Wow, you guys are a wealth of knowledge and help. Since I have a few days off let me start taking the induction end off and breaking things down. Will have a better idea of what gaskets stay intact and how the crankcase looks after pulling crank and piston. Will lay everything out and photo.

Wallfish, sent you a pm on the piston. Any thoughts on who may have gaskets? Would gasket from my cylinder possibly work or could I make them?

I think all that is needed is the piston, connecting rod and bearings. Look like the plastic bearing cage failed causing the damage to the piston. Hoping someone here might have what I need. Fearful buying sight unseen from eBay may get a junker in same shape.....or worse.

Well finally got around to removing the generator from the crankcase. No I didn't get around to cleaning the work bench! Shaft is slightly tapered. Now to find either parts to rebuild or decent decent crankcase and cylinder. Suggestions appreciated! Work bench will need thorough cleaning and sorting after this! No key way cut in shaft.

Thank you all for info on separating the generator from the crankcase. Will try fitting that in this week while renovating my deck and building a cart for a Stover hit and miss.

Bench is a mess..... that's years of projects. Should see the area around the bench. I can't find anything when I clean it up! Will see what I can do to get Gen off. Looks like need to disassemble generator to get off of block. Will post picture when I do and cylinder.

Engine block has "Type 111"

They don't run long with a load on the Gen. Somehow people thought they were perfect for emergencies or camping. Now we have ultra quiet Honda and Ryobi gens that run hours and almost powerful enough to power a house slightly larger than the Tiny Tiger. Got to remember in the 60's Japanese goods were considered junk(astigmatism of WW2). Not until the 70's did the younger folks start seeing the quality and low cost in the Japanese products especially from Sony, Panasonic, Toyota and Honda. Lol Top Gear.....cool show. We get it here on BBC America. Even had an American version for awhile. Please excuse the pervious post. Tried to reply and it copied earlier response.

I will say they take up less room than the horizontal shaft hit and miss engines we have collected and are not back breaking to take to shows. Would like to restore but afraid parts are will take awhile to get together.
