  1. Well I think I'll be holding off on trying to start it now, I decided to pop the exhaust off and this is what was I was confronted with

Part of a rusty piston ring 😟

And a few little lumps taken out of the piston ring groove,

question now is, what are my options? Not sure on the spares situation for these, I'm guessing quite good in Germany as they seemed to be used in a lot of their machines, but I'm not sure over here, or do I try and look for another engine?

  2. It's fitted to a Howard Gem, I think I got to the bottom of it now, after stripping the injector down, everything looked all nice and shiny so I reassembled it and tried again, frustratingly still no action from the end of the injector, then after many turns of the handle I noticed a slight weep around the outlet of the pump, so I stripped the banjo Union off cleaned all the matting surfaces then tightened it all back up again and hey presto, a fine mist of diesel from the injector

Hopefully it'll still work when under compression in the cylinder, but I think I might need a starter fuse for it now, fingers crossed I'll get it going soon,

Thanks for the advice so far guys

  3. As the title says, where do I start when trying to diagnose a problem?

I don't think the fuel is getting through the injector, I removed it and connected it to the fuel line but nothing comes out and nothing is being returned to the tank. I do get a tiny squirt out of the pipe which connects to the injector but that seems as far as it gets? Not sure if it's a faulty injector or pump?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated ðŸ‘
