Potash123 26 #1 Posted August 9, 2016 Had this little mower a couple of years, it's been good. Today I primed it and it started straight away, it cut out after a few seconds. This happened several times. Main jet blocked I am thinking, starting on the primer then running out of fuel ! I just stripped the cab and cleaned it out, carb cleaner, fuse wire etc. Now it starts and runs, but the revs are going up and down caused by movement of the governor arm. It will not settle even by adjustment of the throttle stop, Is there a pilot jet I have missed. Help please.
Bronzegreen 7 #2 Posted August 9, 2016 Is it the Briggs and Stratton engine with the carb on top of the fuel tank these can suffer with diaphragms perishing and I've known the plastic carbs to come loose on the tanks causing hunting as you describe check the carb is tight to the tank check air filter is clean check mixture adjustment failing that fit a carb rebuild kit
Potash123 26 #3 Posted August 10, 2016 Mine is not Briggs and Stratton, it is an OHV engine with a carb with float bowl .
Potash123 26 #4 Posted August 10, 2016 Well found the problem which I thought I would share it with everyone. Pampas leafs had wrapped itself round the drive shaft above the blade. It was so tight it acted like a brake causing engine issues. Took ten minutes to unwrap the leaves. Now running fine. 1 Bronzegreen reacted to this
