Section 1: O&R, AEP Engine Diagrams & Instructions

 

1960

Letter dated August 1, 1960 with the first brochure & line drawings for the O&R Ultra Compact Industrial engine, the letter has the retail prices of Models A, B, & C, the Models D, E, F were not yet available but were included in the outline drawings.
The last page of the outline drawings has the engine parts diagram & list for the Model A.

1961

O&R compact industrial engines: engine & accessories price list (8-1-61), operation instructions (11-1-61), engine parts diagram & list for Models A, B, C & L (not dated).

Model 20A Maintenance Manual

Ohlsson & Rice maintenance manual for the Model 20A 1.6HP 2c.i.d engine (2/72).

Notes: I have found two errors in this manual so far, if anyone finds any more please let me know so I can add a note here.

Error 1: Part numbers for the Walbro carburetors on page 6, I have two HDC6 carbs with a right angled fuel inlet, but the manual shows HDC6 below the wrong picture. HDC11 is correct, can anyone confirm the others (HDC13 & HDC14) are correct?
Error 2: Page 2 states that the spring housing should be turned 1 to 1½ turns to wind the starter spring, figure 7 on page 4 states to turn spring housing 1½ to 2 turns, Service Bulletin S-E095 (Oct 1972) confirms that it should actually be 1 to 1½ turns.

 

Starter Repair Procedures

Service Bulletin S-E-040: starter spring & cord installation instruction (Sept 1969).

This is for earlier engines with the short (44") starter cord used up to serial number #099151, the starter spring is also shorter & is held in place with a small retaining clip.

O&R Engine Series 13A starter mechanism operating instructions (2/72).

This is for later engines with the long (54") starter cord used after serial number #099151, the starter spring is longer & the starter reel is held in place with a retaining ring.

Note: It may get confusing which procedure to use if the starter or parts of it have been swapped in the past.
