Thanks, and this engines operating speed is 600-1000 rpm's, so at WOT its still probably slower than you Kohlers idle. Now, if your saying your Kohler has that choppy inconsistent sound to i t at idle, then I'd say its time for a good tune up.

Your making great progress!

Thats a great idea!

Its still not running as good as I would like, but its running much better than it was. I'm confident that with a bit more tinkering, it will run perfectly. Here is a video.

Indeed, I'm very proud of those screwdrivers Ian!

Thanks Chris, and I wet the trash can down before using it as my paint station.

Well, I got the parts I needed. You can see the compensation valve that was missing in my old elbow below the carb. The last pic is of the rusted off nub that was all that was left of the compensation valve pin. The next pics are of the replacement elbow I picked up. I got it painted, and hopefully I'll get it installed tomorrow. I'm sure you'll notice that I included my beautifully painted screwdrivers in the pics.

Thats great news! Your getting closer all the time.

I like the way its turning out Norm. I've always been a fan of using the tri-ribs up front with the AG's on the rear, but you probably already knew that, as all my GT's have that setup. Gotta love that big tractor look.

Thanks Ian. I think I have a lead on the parts I need to get it running properly, so hopefully it will be in top running order soon.

Glad to see you got the engine taken care of Mark. I've bought my last 3 Kohler rebuild kits from that guy, and have been very pleased with them, other than the ignition points, which are junk! Looking forward to seeing Bendy, up and running.

Thanks Mark.
Thanks Norm, and I agree, its really cool to be able to see the valvetrain working. Thats why I took the valve cover off in the second video.
Matt

Thanks Chris, and the dog didn't care for the loud popping of this engine. It will run better once I get the parts needed.

Alright, I have videos. I haven't been able to get it running quite right, and it turns out its missing some parts in the mixer. The compensation valve, spring, and pin. There is just a little rusted off nub in there, so I'll be ordering the parts soon, and get it running properly. In the parts diagram below, you can see the parts I'm talking about. I'm still very happy it runs, and here are a couple video's, and pics.

Thanks Chris. The rivets are the ones that came with the engine. They're actually just little brass nails, and although the original tag was broke off, these little rivets were still there, and I was able to remove them, without breaking them. Can't wait to get the gas tank back on it today.
Thanks Norm, I appreciate it.

My parts came in, and it runs! I painted the gas tank, lapped the valves, and assembled it. The paint still isn't dry on the gas tank, so I used a jar with some fuel in it to start it. It started on the second try. I didn't run it very long, but once I have the tank back on it, I will. Here are a few pics, and I'll get a video soon.

That is certainly true Chris, but I'm not exactly the antipathy type.,

Well, I called the place that my valves are coming from, and my order has shipped! They provided a tracking #, and it should be here tomorrow. The order has my valves, gas tank, and reproduction ID tag.

Its always very nice to have a proper service manual for a machine. Nice find.

Thanks, I appreciate it.
Thanks Richard. I have two 5 gallon buckets full of antique nuts, and bolts that I use on my restorations. They come in very handy, and I have both the square head, and the thick hex head bolts. If I can avoid it, I don't use modern bolts on my old engines.

My valves still haven't arrived, so its not running yet. Hopefully soon. I did however pick up a reproduction cart to put under the engine, and I must say, its very nice to be able to move the engine around by myself! I'm very pleased with the cart, and it appears very well built.

Things look like they're coming along very nicely.

Very nice find indeed! It looks to be complete, and in very solid condition, which should make for a great restoration.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I'm afraid I can't really go any further until I receive my order from Hit & Miss Enterprises. That will have my valves, ID tag, and gas tank. Here is link to the place the parts are coming from. http://www.hitnmiss.com/index.html
While I wish they were a little quicker, I'm still grateful to find a place that makes reproduction parts for so many of these old engine. They have a good reputation for quality parts, but I'll find out first hand soon enough. I just wish the engine was running already.

My new decals showed up today! There is nothing that adds the finishing touches like new stickers. My new plug wire came in as well. After installing new points, and condensor, she has a nice blue spark jumping across the plug. I ordered the new ID tag from the same people I ordered my valves from, so no doubt it will still be a few days before it arrives. Here are a couple pics.

I just finished looking threw the manual, and mine is a gas model. In the diagram below there are a lot of extra parts needed for Kerosene burning engines, and the mixer is completely different from mine.
