  1. attachicon.gifA grand day at home.jpgHi Neil,

well, that's the point of debate that can cause upset, don't worry I'll not get upset, but they were built as a farm tractor and sold as the same.

Engine is an 8hp Morris 8 adapted engine. Used & tested around Southport Lancs. where they were built, the ground was light and were always successful when it was light ground, but having such a small hp, heavy soils & clay were a non starter. Mid mounted cultivators etc were good therefore for the lighter work and anything related to the top levels of the soil, Ironically, Ceylon had many many Presidents in the wetlands of the rice fields, light enough to travel without bogging etc, also Australia had many exported there too. But yes, a farm tractor not garden tractor, but for lighter duties.

And, the three point linkage system, that's when in the early 50's Mr.Ferguson came along with a certain little Grey Tractor with this revolutionary system.... that killed the President and many other manufacturers if they weren't to follow with that idea, and of course, national standard nowadays, well, International Standards.

So yes, British through & through, a seven year lifespan pretty much, small & light & easy to house is my fascination with them, oh, plus my fathers first car was a Morris 8, But surely, I'm too young to remember that ........

    Titch

Titch, Many apologies in getting the differences wrong , I must have read the information  wrong ,, that it was a farm tractor & not a garden tractor. I did wonder why as it is not exactly a small tractor , either way i still like the tractors , I own a grey fergy , but prefer the look of the BMP .

& i would imagine by having the morris engine would be quite easy to work on ????

  2. 2400 hours , WoW . i bet it looks amazing when its all fired up and working,

I rember making a steam osillating engine at school , it was a very simple steam engine with just a small meths burner with a small brass water boiler & a small brass piston that drove a flywheel , sadly i threw it away one day when i had the hump about something , wished i kept it now .

  3. I too like the president tractor , I allways thought they were a farm tractor until i read that they are class as a Garden tracor . Im sure they would do most of what a farm tractor would do .

Do they have the facility for a 3 pt hitch ?

  4. Richard, thanx for the reply , The pressure guage is made by Drake & Fletcher and is missing the glass front which isnt too much of a problem yet but i would say that the guage could do with being restored . I dont know if the guage works as i havent been able ti fire up the pump yet .

I was considering selling the the sprayer as i have a few bills to pay but i feel once i let it go i would regret it , so i would like to get it going & have a play with it first but what with all my other projects it will have to wait its turn , so i think i would rather pay someone to get her going . I dont think the Lister D engine would take much to get sorted out , it is probably just the magneto that just needs sorting out

  5. Can i have a go on that some time Chris , would love to track up n down on it . i have admired that one of yours for a long time .

Do you ever intend to get a dozer blade mounted on the front?

  6. I have a Drake & fletcher Orchard sprayor pump that i am looking to get some information on , does anyone know anything about these  pumps ?

This is the only picture i have of the sprayer at the moment so ignore the little tractor at the front, i will get some better pics later

It has a Lister type D endine that needs comissioning & it also needs a new or restored pressure gauge then she is good to fire up , but because my mechanical skills isnt up to much  I dont think i have the confidence to get this up & running , so i would like to know if there is anyone that knows anything about this type of pump to help me get her working . would love to see it working for the spring time

  7. what a lovely clean lathe Richard.

The last time i used a lathe was when i was a school about 38 years ago , i  manage to get an A level grade 1 in metal work . working with the lathe was one of my favorite subjects at school & i managed to build up quite a good relationship with the teacher , so much so i managed to take his daughter out on a date . & WOW she was Hot .

What is the story on the Steam engine , do you have anymore pics of it , ? How big is it ?
