jak3_smith reacted to meadowfield in Westwood W11
I thought I'd given a big clue in the top of the thread
It was a nice tractor and ran sweet as a nut, we like those Briggs engines. Never had any trouble with them.... Well they aren't temperature tolerant. I have two melted ones up the garden

Here's a few pics of my sons westwood, after being finished and featured in T&M he got a really good offer and ended up selling it to do his C-121 resto.

It was good fun, and very productive for mowing. You never cut the same bit twice with one!
At one point I could also mow with the twins sitting either side of me it was a big seat.

A few more bits done over the weekend and yesterday.
Finally started work on the other side of the chassis which was in a worse condition than the other side, we replaced the side in three sections so that the chassis didn't twist.
Just before welding in the last piece.
Finally finished all of the repairs on the chassis, it just needs its final coats of primer and then I can start on the yellow paint
With thanks to my grandad the tyres have been taken off the rear wheels so I can start cleaning them up.
Some more bits sandblasted

jak3_smith reacted to meadowfield in New workshop
Short on updates, but decided I needed a proper brew area in the workshop.
I recycled two very nice pieces of solid oak and beech worktop for a kitchen area.
Bought a hot water heater too, so I no longer need to wash in the stream

Slow progress, what with Xmas and all that.
We got distracted with the centre support column and decided it would make a good drill stand/bench grinder stand/
power point.

Been a bit slow, busy at work and not very motivated.
Bit the bullet today
Ewan did a quick video, thanks again to Doug (Ranger) for his assistance. I got there in the end!

jak3_smith reacted to meadowfield in Working the horse... For a change
Did a few more hours in the top field. The GT14 even came out to play, though it only just made it up the hill. It's still really only 4x4 territory.
Me and the kids did breakfast outdoors too

Trailer is an agrifab one Andrew, badged under a lot of different names.
Just for you Norm, the kids did take a few pics pulling out the buried fencing.

jak3_smith reacted to meadowfield in Working the horse... For a change
In a rare departure, C4 was out this afternoon for some duties in the top field. Firstly pulling out some old fencing buried in the ground, and then moving a a few logs...as well as providing a little light to see.

jak3_smith reacted to meadowfield in Fame at last for some of us
After a good turnout at Newby Hall we have been rewarded with a good article on the UK wheel horse round up in this months T&M. A good set of pictures and we have our names in print

jak3_smith reacted to meadowfield in I'm in!
Some of you know I've been looking to move for over a year, I finally made it last Friday.
So now we are out in the countryside just a few miles from Malham. Scenery fantastic, modern conveniences lacking... We are on bottled water, no mobile, Internet or phone line. And get hot water from a tap if I leave the heating on full!
Huge plus side, no neighbours, lots of countryside, land and areas to play
We've been busy pla...tidying for the last few days. Here's a few pics, I know some of you like them
there's videos too, but currently on free wifi and dont have time.

Got some welding to do....

jak3_smith reacted to meadowfield in Raider 16 4x4 articulated -aka project bendy
Managed a few hours tonight, cleaned up one of the rams kindly donated by Doug and tried it in place.
The stroke is right but the overall length is too much for the space I have...
So out with the grinder
Got a new end cap and pivots to sort out next - that's the plate underneath in the pic. A quick drop into place and it should fit ok

Slow day today, put the gauges back in this morning and went for a spin... Within 5 seconds the volt meter and rev counter stopped working the wires wrapped around the steering uj and ripped out of the back
So lost an hour there soldering them back in
Finally hooked up the choke linkage, then started on this
The battery isolator and fuse box panel.

As if by magic...
Apologies for he rubbish shot, number 2 son came in and stood in the light
It's been a cold day up north, minus 4 first thing and it just passed zero degrees by lunch. So lots of cups of coffee were in order and using the kitchen island to put most of the first loom together
And the first bit in place behind the tank and steering column.
Next job is to make the panel fit and add the fuses and light circuits.

Today's update, lots of stuff has arrived
Firstly switches, lights and connectors
Then a batch of stickers
Which meant I could finish these, shame I couldnt get the tacho in black bezel... Might have to spray it....
Might make a start on the dash panel tomorrow.

The posty brought gifts this week. A new seat, battery and some led running lights. In between showers managed to get a bit more done...
Firstly mounting my new seat, a kab p2 which is the same as the original raider had. The seat holes and spring holes don't match so the base has two new brackets made up.
Then some light brackets on the front fenders
And with running light fitted
View from the new seat
Finally new pin for the handbrake turned down and a teeny bit cut out of the fender so the handbrake clears.
And not forgetting finally getting some primer on the hood and seat base before a quick stick together pic.

Despite wanting to play, I have found time to make some fenders from scrap pieces of Ian's 6x6...
With a patch welded in
Ground flat and e tanked
Primed and in place
I made some brackets too, but forgot to take a picture. I've ordered some lights too
