  1. I have a number of used for parts Ohlsson & Rice utility subjects. The collection is oriented mostly with chainsaws, There is a Tiny Tiger generator, Tot'n Skillsaw, 1/2" drill also. There is a box of packaged O&R Nos parts. There are some Nos boxes of carburetor and diaphragm parts. Other boxes are mostly chainsaw Nos and a tank. I removed what I could find in storage to take pictures and repack them and put them away until sold or for the next X amount of years. I have a good Tot'n catalog of utility setups and exploded views. I have the warranty cards and paperwork for Tiny Tiger. The Tiny Tiger is in good shape and would restore nicely. The box is fair. The wood is coming apart because the nails rusted away. It could be restored. I will post pictures below
  2. Hello, I’m still very new to O&R but learning a ton about these engines from all the great posts and enthusiasts on this forum. One thing I’m still a little puzzled by is how to distinguish between the 3/4 and 1 hp models when the decals are damaged or missing. Are there any obvious tell-tale signs or clues that I can look for, or specific model/types? I hope his new thread lands in the right spot. If I’ve goofed again, my apologies and I’ll need a little guidance as it seems I’m in the right Ohlsson section when adding a new thread. Thanks!
  3. Hello All, I’m brand new to the forum and also new to the older Ohlsson & Rice engines. I’ve been working on various small engines including Briggs model size from the 1930s-50s so I’m in new territory here. I understand through some researching that there are some experts here in the forum and I’m hoping to get some advice. I recently acquired my first Ohlsson & Rice engine, actually still waiting for delivery. It’s a basic Type 115 engine and doesn’t have a gas tank or anything else. It’s also got a carburetor that looks a bit different from most that I’ve seen during my initial research. The top of the carb is completely flat with no spring loaded button on top or other holes on top. I’m anticipating it will need to be completely disassembled and cleaned and the diaphragm replaced. First question is does anyone here still make a replacement diaphragm or know of a suitable mateial I could purchase to make my own? Second question is, what is the recommended spark plug for these engines? Mine is coming without one and of course no other documentation to reference. I look forward to your expert opinions and to learning from all of you that are much more knowledgeable on these cool old engines. I’ll try to post a couple photos after it arrives.
  4. Thought i'd start a new thread for this, my main question here is once you get them running, what would be the best way to shut down an ohlsson & rice engine (or any 2 stroke/4 stroke engine?) Iv'e heard the best thing for all engines is to turn off the fuel valve and let it just run out of fuel?? but since these ohlsson rice engines mostly don't have on/off fuel valves, what would be the next best thing? spark plug wire needs to be screwed on so for me that's a no go, another way i think would be to just fully close the choke - but could this cause any damage/issues for restarting later on? Also some on the front of the engine ohlsson rice recommends something like a gallon regular gas to 3/4 pints outboard oil - whats the difference between regular 2 stroke oil and outboard oil and are they interchangeable??? i researched a little bit into 2 stroke outboard oils with the tcw-3 rating and all that, some websites said they were a better quality oil, some said they were worse! ....to add to my confusion - the regular 2 stroke oil iv'e been using (for lawnmower) has apparently been rated at tcw-3 - even though its not outboard oil??? Hope this makes sense! The auto store looked at me like i was a madman when i asked them what tcw-3 oil was LOL
