CNew 404 #1 Posted May 18, 2019 Finally got it running today. It won’t idle but at least it’s back to life. The carburetor adjustment screw may be the culprit, it doesn’t seem to have any impact on the idle no matter how you adjust it. The needle looks fine and no damage so I’m not sure what’s going on with it. I think it looks kind of neat in bare metal but I’ll likely paint it some day. factory 487 #2 Posted May 19, 2019 Best to paint it, or you will be polishing it continuously to keep it clean, the paint should help prevent corrosion too. Do you have any before pictures? David
CNew 404 #3 Posted May 19, 2019 Agreed, paint is in its future. I’m not sure I have any before photos but will look. It was ugly, I can tell you that! These Sears models were white with black lettering from what I’ve been able to find. Clint
