Csaw 4 #1 Posted March 23, 2022 An Orline engine reference says "1/2 Pint S.A.E. 30 Motor Oil MS to One Gallon Regular Gasoline. DO NOT USE 10W/30 or 2 cycle Outboard Motor oil. For my O&R 20A chainsaw, is this true that I cannot use 2-cyle oil for the fuel mix? If so, why?
Wallfish 697 #2 Posted March 24, 2022 Outboard oil should never be used for lawn equipment or other 2 strokes as the oil is made differently. Yes, you can use 2 stroke oil, just don't use outboard oil. 1 Fishnuts2 reacted to this
Fishnuts2 22 #3 Posted March 30, 2022 Outboard motors are water cooled and don't generate the higher temps that air cooled motors can. The oils are formulated differently for a reason. I use Amsoil Saber mixed with non-ethanol fuel at 32-1 on every air cooled 2 cycle engine I have. (100+) From the O & R's up to the big 118cc Sachs Dolmar saws.
