Hi Nigel
Thanks for your comments the results were as follows Throw outs were not judged. There were five of us taking part.
Feering 1st T Tweedie 2nd J Law 3rd George
Ploughing 1st T Tweedie 2nd F Munro 3rd George ( I cannot compete with the long mould boards}
Finish 1st F Munro 2nd J Law 3rd George
Overall I was very happy with my results and everyone else was happy with theirs
For me to improve I think it is time to try another mouldboard as mine is semi digger and the rest are long boards { thinking out loud}
Keep well

Hi All
This is the first time the horticultural tractors have taken part in this match here are some photos there were over seventy entries and all classes it was well attended
The match was the only one in the past few weeks not cancelled by the bad weather
Hi Norman
We find disc is OK if straw is not too long. knife Coulter is OK but sometimes the straw hanks on it. the Scotch skimmer if set right makes its own little furrow and buries the trash and stubble ahead of the mouldboard Thanks for your comments

Hi Ian
Thanks but I am only the gardener and handy man, I have the pleasure of looking after the old mill without the pain of the upkeep, it is nice to look at and admire.
John who owns the mill is one of lifes true gentleman and his wife is a true lady
I made a promise as long as I was able I would look after the gardens, this is my ninth year.
Hi All
Tidy time again at the mill getting ready for the winter hope you like the merry tiller at work and truck carrying an other load of logs
Last picture of stone is from the 1700 and is a drovers road marker it is built into a fireplace in the village sorry it is not very clear as it is well worn
PS the exact date is 1683 wee bit before my time
Hi
Wee tip, line up your sighting poles put a small piece of tape in the middle of your tractor bonnet or hood and hold line to the poles do not look back any more than you have to this will stop the wavy furrow have fun and practise if and when you can
all the best

Hi HeadExam
Here are some points for you to look at, the winding handle below the steering wheel gives you control over entry into or out of the ground also notice the slotted heel piece ,this can be moved to maintain the suck required hope this helps
Thanks for your comments

Hi All
What a difference a day makes. Local ploughing match very hard dry ground I could make nothing of it in fact made a mess with capital M
The brain was put in gear fitted a bracket for a 56 lbs weight fitted a Scotch skimmer from the horse day,tried it on Sunday the-9th October different field different area different result although my finish let me down I still managed first place
I was very happy with the changes that were made . little more tweaking and it will be fine
As I was saying what a difference a day makes
Hope you enjoy
Hi all pictures of local ploughing match held Saturday 24th Sept
