  2. Thats a great idea and I agree, ATV's are handy. I have a friend that did something similar with his ATV. The difference was the "crane" was actually a lift as it hinged at the bottom mount and the winch was used to pick up the entire boom assembly. It could be used for anything but he built it out of necessity for getting deer onto the front of his ATV without having to lift them. Slide onto the boom, engage the winch and then slide them onto the rack. Just a thought if you ever wanted to transport anything on the front rack.
  3. Thats just cool. I can't look at those pictures without smiling.
  4. My company, like most these days, is into personnel safety bigtime. As hearing loss in an employee is an OSHA recordable we did a decibel surveys at our shop. We didn't box in the compressor but lined the wall behind the compressor with foam to reduce the noise to acceptable levels. My home compressor is still in my garage but I placed it back in the corner and ran 1/2" PVC piping up to the attic and out to the the front near my garage door and mounted a hose reel permanently to the ceiling. If you boxed in the compressor that might work well for you and I love the easy access and retractable hose.
  5. Cresent wrench, without a doubt! Never the best tool, sometimes too bulky and time consuming......but almost always gets the job done. Unless your working on rusty old whee...... I mean stuff. Also the best "companion tool" as in after all this time I still can't guess the correct nut size sometimes!
  6. Please correct me if I am wrong but I believe one advantage to using flux core is welding outside. Never used Flux core but that is what a friend told me. Mig with gas is a cleaner weld but can't be used very well outside because it will give a crappy weld with a slight breeze. I know at my shop at work, I need to close the bay doors to weld with the Mig/gas. Just a thought if you plan on using it outside/remotely. I'm also looking for a Mig but am going to go ahead and get a 220 so I can weld thicker metal.
