  1. That Filter Foam is a scary thing! My air cleaner housing on the Polaris Power Pole snow-thrower is EMPTY. Hopefully, as a snow appliance, it was ALWAYS empty. So far I've only inspected the carb diaphragm, which is stiff but intact. It has run, but not very well. Since I attempted to use gear oil in the gearbox, and the engine sucked it all out and burned it, I suspect the shaft seals. At least everything is well lubricated ;-)
  2. I'm interested in the original question: SIZE: shaft diameter, bore diameter, seal cross section. It's possible that commercial U-ring seals might be available. I'm also wondering about the material: is BUNA-N (Nitrile Rubber) the correct material for these engine seals? Thanks!
  3. Excellent resource! I'm working on a Polaris Power Pole (3/4 HP O&R), and suspect that the original shaft seals are the reason it won't stay running (carb diaphragm is stiff but intact). I'm NOT looking forward to major disassembly, but your photos will be a big help, if I work up the nerve...
  4. Nice restoration. I have one also, in original condition. It runs, but needs some TLC. I notice you seem to have the handle installed correctly. The handle on mine was reversed for some reason. I've replaced the Lovejoy coupling between the powerhead and drive shaft... the old one was crumbling. Also my fuel tank had been repaired but didn't look too secure, so I set it aside, and made a polyethylene tank with model airplane parts, for testing. I haven't rebuilt the carburetor yet... that's my next project, I think.
