I live in Albuquerque New Mexico and was born in Santa Fe. I have lived here most of my life and I love living in the desert! I spent some time living in Mexico and Texas but nothing compares to New Mexico I started wrenching at a very early age. My first repair I completed was at the age of 8. The starter in my mother's Mercury Monarch needed to be replaced. My grandfather had already bought the new part and had planned to repair it after he got off work. Well I decided to replace the starter myself so that my grandfather didn't have to do it. I was able to loosen the bolts and remove the old starter but there was no way I could lift the heavy starter AND thread a bolt so I got my belt and fed it down from under the hood to the starter. I looped the belt around the starter and lifted it from the top and tied the other end of my belt to the hood. I was then able to maneuver the starter into the transmission and bolt it up!!! When my grandfather got home he was surprised that I was able to complete the entire job by myself!!! The only thing that he had to do was tighten the bolts to the required torque! That's what started my love for mechanics and I enjoy it immensely to this day.
