Villiers MK15 exhaust

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I acquired another couple of barford atoms the other day and set about getting one of them going. I cleaned and reset points and then setup the magneto timing, cleaned carb and reassembled. It ran first pull however after about 30 seconds the inside of the exhaust was cherry red and it was starting to spit flames. It would spit flames constantly. I let it cool and started it again and it did the same thing. Why is this? Is it something to do with fuel?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Tom

Hi,

If my timing was out would it still run nice though? It runs very smoothly it's just the flame issue. I will de-carbon the head one evening this week and put a better exhaust on it.

Thanks,

Tom

Too mutch fuel??

May have to ajust the float level & try again

Or try another carb of another running machine & try that

Too much fuel will tend to make the engine "sound heavy" but your problem is possibly caused by weak mixture.

Try closing the choke just a fraction an see if it improves things.

Thanks again,

Tom
