Tom 215 #1 Posted February 16, 2015 Hi all, I acquired another couple of barford atoms the other day and set about getting one of them going. I cleaned and reset points and then setup the magneto timing, cleaned carb and reassembled. It ran first pull however after about 30 seconds the inside of the exhaust was cherry red and it was starting to spit flames. It would spit flames constantly. I let it cool and started it again and it did the same thing. Why is this? Is it something to do with fuel? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Wristpin 400 #5 Posted February 16, 2015 Too much fuel will tend to make the engine "sound heavy" but your problem is possibly caused by weak mixture. Try closing the choke just a fraction an see if it improves things. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
