Ohlsson & Rice: Mechanix Illustrated / November 1967

Recommended Posts

This might have been posted somewhere already but I thought I would share a recent find, at least to me anyway.  Nice article on the O&R engine.

No I don't think it's been posted on here, but I have the whole article (can't remember where I found it), note the article covers several different engines including a large picture showing one of O&R's competitors 'Cox' who had their own bicycle kit the 'Bronco' (similar to O&R's Chicken Power kit).

Also the article is one of very few mentions of an O&R powered winch being used for the 1963 expedition on Mt Everest, something that must have not been very successful as I never found much else relating to it.

Thank us David, these are great!  The little O&R outboard is on my dream list. I saw one online a couple weeks ago and have been kicking myself ever since. At the time I didn’t know how rare most of this stuff was- same goes for a Little Wonder trimmer and a Drillgine. I may have a chance at getting another ice auger like the one Webhead posted. Still waiting to hear back from the guy and I know I’ll have to pay up for it and it’s not in quite as good a condition as the one Webhead posted.  It might be kind of like the General Ice Aguer in the article you sent. If I end up with it I’ll be sure to post some photos.

I wouldn't call the Little Wonder trimmer rare, they must have been one of the best sellers over here in the UK & lots have survived.

Two Augers in one month, where do you keep finding them?

The first one was local on Craigslist from Oakslayer. This other one I randomly came across but I haven’t been able to close the deal yet, sure hoping it works out.
