Ive done both Joe, they make good money all original but doing a full restoration is expensive and the differents in price isn't always enough to cover the work
thats what i was thinking to be honest and yes restoration don't always pay off. might have to sell it as is then its all working and a good tractor just need the space for more projects so might have to go!
I recently ordered a belt for my wheel horse and since I fitted there is a extreme loss in power and im having to hold the belt engager lever down to get a bit more power/
speed! the lever does work properly and is all correct now and still no difference!
I now know its the wrong belt even though its the same part number as the one off it that unfortunately snapped when some wood got caught in it!
if anyone knows what the right belt part number is for my machine it would be great.
I did wonder what you were planning as over this week end I was pulling some logs and one sliped and smashed the back light on my C-160 AUTO but I've been searching for an original but they all seem a lot of money for something that could easily get broken again, and they are hard to find.
I prefer the barn find look if its not to rusted and damaged! that's why im reluctant to restore mine, but it does get a beating in the woods when I use it!
I have a look and give you an update soon! just really busy at the moment and I was hoping it would move last Saturday, but ill keep you posted!
im building a shed for it so its all closed off and secure and doesn't get rain over it as its in one of our barns but at the moment it gets covered in rain as it a barn with no sides!
well everyone, not good news on the Ferguson! I had a go at moving the cylinder, but no chance! in the end after 3 or so hours lightly hitting it, I got the sledge hammer out and waked them with it and a block of wood, there wasn't even on inch or a mm of movement. I think the bearing are seized, in the crank and because the cylinders are at the top and bottom of their stroke it will take a bit to move it! so its on hold now, until at least a few months! not very happy but i'm very busy with the business and customers! so there wont be much update for a bit of time!
I'm almost thinking of selling it and buying a different tractor! but not sure just yet, so no-one get any ideas
I have put some clean diesel down the bores, I just ordered some parts from agri line, I'll show you them shortly and I started looking at what needs doing to the head and radiator, I'm going to empty the diesel out on Friday and heat the cylinder up and pore oil in the bores hoping it will expanded a bit and will help brake the seal between the rings and the liners!
