Once stripped down it became apparent that the piston and barrel would be one forever more, despite my best efforts to separate them! A little too much force and the piston was holed..... Darmic1 447 #28 Posted November 13, 2014 The carb was stripped for an inspection and overhaul. I discovered the fuel shut off valve(ball bearing) is missing, along with the choke lever and the air cleaner. I have replacements coming in from the US of A...... I have already had some bits come over, a replacement barrel and piston. New set of seals and gaskets, a new spark plug and a carb overhaul kit. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Darmic1 447 #29 Posted November 13, 2014 Managed to get it all back together, but without a spark...... A quick chat with Wallfish and an exchange of photo's showed me that a wire was in the wrong place. Once rectified, a healthy spark was produced. I was so tempted to try the engine, despite not having a working carb. So I squirted some fuel in and gave it a pull! The 2nd pull and away it went....... not for long, but enough to be happy with the progress. Next was to attend to the paint work. The fuel tank had a couple of small pin holes. Once stripped of old paint I was able to solder repair the pin holes, then apply some filler to smooth the dents. Next came a coat or 2 of etch primer and finally a couple coats of top coat. That shaft setup is easy to put a pulley or chain gear on so anything you can drive with a belt or chain will work. water pump small air compressor scooter They also look good just as an engine display too.
