factory 487 #2 Posted April 7, 2019 Here is what looks like a complete (apart from the engine carb) Keene Engineering (of 11483 Van Owen, North Hollywood) water pump with the dredge fittings & sluice box (Model 1501). These pictures were permanently borrowed from ePay. It even had the instructions & parts list. David 1 pmackellow reacted to this
factory 487 #4 Posted April 8, 2019 Here are some pictures of mine, the guy I bought it from did have the sluice box but as it got sold separately it didn't head my way, they didn't have any of the other bits though. CNew 404 #5 Posted April 13, 2019 That’s a really cool pump David!
factory 487 #6 Posted April 13, 2019 The impeller isn't so cool, but I'm not the only person that's found out they age badly. http://www.akmining.biz/forums/archive/index.php/t-2761765.html?s=d3f0b21da285918b5537d024d8d6b0fe Maybe if it could be 3D scanned some replacements could be 3D printed. CNew 404 #7 Posted April 13, 2019 That certainly looks like something that could be scanned and 3D printed with either FDM or SLS technology in a Nylon material or even a higher performance polymer like PPSU, PEI or PEKK. If you decide to get it scanned sometime let me know and maybe I can give it a go with 3D printing. Might even be a good candidate for a machined version in aluminum. Heck it could also be machined from a stock shape of polymer. 1 factory reacted to this
factory 487 #8 Posted April 13, 2019 All good suggestions, it might a while before I get round the restoring it, but I'll have a look sometime to see how easy it is to remove. David
CNew 404 #9 Posted May 27, 2019 FYI, I just bought an original 1971 Keene Engineering prospecting catalog that shows the Model 1501. I’ll try to scan some photos when it arrives. 2 pmackellow and factory reacted to this
factory 487 #10 Posted May 27, 2019 Nice find, it's probably best to email some high resolution scanned images and I can create a pdf for the manuals sticky thread. Pictures in posts are limited in resolution to save server space. David
CNew 404 #11 Posted May 27, 2019 Sounds good David, as soon as it comes in I’ll try to get you some good scans.
factory 487 #12 Posted May 27, 2019 I've just had a look at the pictures on the ebay listing, apparently they used the Olsen and Rice engine. At least that explains why these engines get misspelt so often. David
CNew 404 #13 Posted May 27, 2019 Nice, wow that’s a really bad spelling!
