Ian 2,417 #1 Posted June 30, 2015 First things first, a big thank you to Chris for sending me this steering box for use on Why Not.. Thanks mate The question is.. What's it from? Both Chris an I have no idea! Made by Cam Gears Ltd.. Numbers stamped everywhere.. Note the upside down M to the left of the square plate. The top. From my research this make of steering box were used in Austin A35's, a few MG's and a Morgan... But what's really throwing me out is the double lever arm!! I've never seen one of those before! Any ideas Guy's?
the showman 4,074 #2 Posted June 30, 2015 Have you noticed the slot in the top of the shaft Ian, looks like it had a steering lock ?
Vinnetrow 129 #3 Posted June 30, 2015 (edited) Found this about 7 posts down on an Austin A30 A35 owners forum, so it must be of that origin. I have no idea why it has that double pitman arm thing going on though?? http://forum.austina30a35ownersclub.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1825&start=2715#p79652 Edited June 30, 2015 by Vinnetrow 1 Ian reacted to this
Ian 2,417 #4 Posted June 30, 2015 Thanks Max, yep A30/A35 it is The Pitman arm confused me for a long while. It looks like two track rod ends connect to them, the right side is a short one, the left goes right behind the engine all the way to the other side..
