grumps 2 #1 Posted November 15, 2015 Hi Everyone. Got a problem with the gearbox on my B115. It can be difficult to find the correct gear but once it's found it will stay in that gear. Has anyone got an idea what's wrong and how to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated. Regards Colin.
Wristpin 400 #2 Posted November 15, 2015 Sounds like a selector issue but there's only one way to find out!
meadowfield 1,900 #3 Posted November 15, 2015 You will have to take it apart, you might get away with just taking the selector housing off without splitting it. 1 Joe the small engine man reacted to this
grumps 2 #4 Posted November 16, 2015 Thanks for your replies. It's a Peerless 822 transmission and it looks to me that the only way is to split the casing. Is this a common problem or am I just unlucky? Any ideas where I can get diagram of the 822 transmission? Regards Colin
meadowfield 1,900 #5 Posted November 16, 2015 Hi, I forgot the B-115 is 5 speed. Doh! I was think of the 600 series in a B-111 Yes you have to split the two halves, they are usually filled with bentonite grease. All 5 speeds and reverse are in constant mesh with a sliding pin that is the selector. Over time they can wear badly and get bent/stepped which makes it hard to push through the gears. You can get replacement ones though, so it is repairable! Mark
grumps 2 #6 Posted November 18, 2015 Hi Meadowfield I've found a diagram of the 822 gearbox, so it's time to get the spanners out! Colin.
Stormin 4,458 #7 Posted November 18, 2015 You'll have to do a thread on the strip down and rebuild. We like things like that. With photo's of course.
