nigel 1,876 #1 Posted December 8, 2016 Has any one got a picture of how the points are wired up please I can't get a spark, had the flywheel off magnets are good , but when I looked at the points something doesn't look right got two black wires ones been cut off the other goes to ground! Wristpin 400 #2 Posted December 8, 2016 (edited) A wire from the coil to points and a wire from external condenser to same terminal.Make sure that you have the correct thickness gasket between the cover and the crank case. Without that the points may earth out to the cover. In many applications the condenser is anchored under one of the engine mounting bolts. Edit The "book" points gap is 20thou but experience gleaned the hard way suggests that they perform better at 18thou - long story! Wallfish 698 #3 Posted December 9, 2016 A wire must come from under the flywheel ( which is attached at the condenser connection ) to the points terminal. Only one wire needed to the points for spark. Disconnect the wire going to ground. A k91 has a button on the points cover to kill (ground) the engine but you can connect a second wire to the points to use as a kill. The kill switch must connect to ground which kills the spark.
