hi chaps wondered if you could help me w/h c161 16 hp kohler with the engine running and the pto clutch engaged what would the rpm of the drive pulley be lets say half revs

im trying to work out the pulley size if i was to run a hydraulic pump at say 3000 rpm

rpm of the drive pulley is the same as that of the engine, so you'll have to work of the diameter of the pulley. theres plenty of those calculators on the net

Mmm, My manual states it runs at 3600 which is max for a standard motor (except K91).

Therefore 1800rpm at half throttle. Not recommended to run constant below normal full rpm for various reasons (e.g. Oil splash Lubrication, Alternator output and HP).

Suspect it would be best to set your pump to run at it's normal rpm when the engine is at or near full speed (I set my engines to 3450rpm using a cheap Laser Tacho).

Hmm, my magnum 16 has a sticker saying 3000 is the max speed. I just assumed that was due to its size?

We Americans just want you guys to have slower machines than ours so we put those 3000 rpm stickers on all the international engines. :yankchain:

Curious if that engine is original to a tractor or if was spec'd for a different type of machine? Pretty darn sure all of mine are spec'd for 3600 rpm.

I'm with Richard on this. Not sure why you would want to load that engine at half rpm since those engines are designed to run at full rpm for cooling, lubrication and performance.

Why not just run it at full rpm?

For calculating pulley size, there are many online calculators to use, as stated above. Very handy for exactly what you're doing.

thanks chaps only reason i said 3000rpm is if ive got my calculations right at 3000rpm i will defiantly be running the pump at a higher rpm full revs
