Wristpin 400 #3 Posted July 26, 2018 If they are for a worn engine try a set of Cords. http://www.cordsduaflex.com/whycords.html

857 10 #6 Posted July 29, 2018 Hi Chris/Mike I tried looking for you at Wiston but failed. Yes that was me at times, I still need rings but I found out yesterday that was not the only problem for the smoke. First my stationary engine packed up then on Sunday did the WH then yesterday did my 30 year old Escort car all with smoke problems (I mean a lot ), I had used petrol from a 20Ltr jerry can which was about 6 months old I checked it and yes it was contaminated, now having to drain the car tank and other machines. Lesson learnt DON’T USE OLD FUEL. Terry
Stormin 4,458 #7 Posted July 29, 2018 Unleaded petrol, unlike leaded, doesn't keep for very long. I've used two year old leaded without problems in the past.
857 10 #8 Posted July 29, 2018 Thanks Looks like a fuel stabiliser is a good idea for small engines, £7 for about 300 Ltr treatment is not bad and should help prevent ethanol clogging of the carburettor.

It is not the removal of the lead that has caused the problems that we have now but the inclusion of ethanol which is inheritly unstable and also hygroscopic . Fuel stabiliser is useful but the simpler solution is to only buy fuel in a quantity that will be used in a month and keep it in 5 litre plastic cans rather than a 20 litre “Jerry can” . The problem is likely to get worse as while UK fuel containes around 7.5 % ethanol , other parts of the world are on up to 13%.
