A friend that has a lawnmower repair/sales business found one in the cobwebbed area of the parts store lol. There are a few new ones online but why not buy hew linings and epoxy the pad to the disc.

Ok, If it is an Osprey and 7hp, then I can offer you some help. The Engine Model, Spec and Serial nbrs on the Engine (1980) in my original Thread is 170702 - 5638-01.

If you want to check further, then just count the number of Cylinder Head Bolts. If you have 9,  then it should be 17cu inch 7hp............... A 5hp (14 cu in) engine has 8.

I have PDF Files of both the Illustrated Parts Manual and User Manual that I can post here or send. Or, you can enter the numbers into the Briggs and Stratton Website Manuals section and download your own.

The User Manual has most of the common service procedures and Data you'll need.

Any other bits you need, I can check my Manual for you.

Would it be possible to get the manuals at all? I know it's an old post but I would be very interested for my 7hp osprey 24

Thanks Chris

I am a new Hayter Osprey owner having snapped up one that was for sale in the next village to us and of course the usual internet search for information was initiated soon after collecting the 'Beast'. Hence finding this forum.

As far as I can tell a previous owner replaced the original engine with a 12hp version and that seems to have serious grunt.

The clutch friction material was pretty well worn down but I managed to find Custom Brakes and Hydraulics in Sheffield and sent them the clutch plates and they sent them back with new friction material bonded on, more or less by return of post.

This is what I have bought and already it has more than earned the modest purchase price by clearing overgrown parts of our paddock.
