Stormin 4,458 #1 Posted April 7, 2014 Below is a photo of my Petter diesel generator. I apologise for the poor quality but it is right in a far corner of the workshop. The engine is a Petter single cylinder diesel AA1. Number 74343 AA1. 3bhp. 3000rpm. The generator by EP Allan & Co. KVA 2.5 Serial No 1022 2P. 110/240v Single phase. 50 cycles. Amps 17,4 - 8.7. I bought this some years back when we had several long power cuts. As in days. £150. Since then we have only had very short ones. I run it now and then, but I think the neighbours, not that we have many, would be a tad upset if run through the night. It's one noisy beast. I haven't a clue as to old it is. Hope it's of a bit of interest. 1 nigel reacted to this
Anglo Traction 1,016 #2 Posted April 7, 2014 Nice bit of Kit and useful output. AA1 is representative of build date anywhere between 1964-1992 such was the 'soundness' of the design. I believe they are a pig to start though?.
Stormin 4,458 #3 Posted April 7, 2014 Never have any problem starting it, Richard. Hold down the decompression lever and wind the handle like mad.
