I should have a soup can tank bracket if you need one. I still owe ya!
IMO they look better without the plastic cover. But if it does have one, it's good to keep it original.
Only the early covers have the threads on the covers. The majority will have the threads on the plates and the screw heads facing the recoil. Mustang style chainsaws have the threads on the tank and the cover and plate don't have threads.

You can see it in these pics. Yellow outboard in the middle of my display. I can get some close ups.
I'm with Clint, the soup can would probably look better but...

CNew reacted to Wallfish in Big O&R display
So Jim (usedtoolman) and I got together Saturday at a local antique engine show (Straw Hollow) and displayed part of our O&R collections together. I think Jim had around 20 tools and I had about 25. Both of us have more than this but it's just way too much hassle to bring everything. Who knows, maybe one day we can do a bigger one with everything we have.
Jim's much nicer display! He has some really nice stuff.
And my crappy display. No pics of my ugly mug!
And kind of a shot of both
And here is some other stuff that was at the show

CNew reacted to factory in Orline Cutoff saw
Amazingly the extra guard piece is not shown in either the parts list or brochure leaflet, I only have pictures of three other Orline Circular Saws, it's only visible in this one (where it's fitted to the outside of the guard) link below;
It's hidden by the blade in the pictures of the other two saws I have.
Also the brochure confirms the blade size as 8" (same size as used on the Comet C/Saw), both an abrasive wheel and saw blade were available for the Orline Saw.

Unfortunately this engine does not have that rotary valve but still have 2 more engines to check.
Received a box of NOS Octura parts and I already have a radio and servos somewhere. Now to find nice old vintage boat to power up.

CNew reacted to Wallfish in Speedy Sprayer
Found this compressor and engine but it's obviously not the Orline style. Came with a paint gun too
It's missing the engine mount but I'm thinking this might have been an electric motor model. IDK
Wondering if @JUST O&R Terry is up for the challenge of making a motor mount?

CNew reacted to JUST O&R in NOS and or Used parts trade
Just got done playing with gaskets and the material Clint sent .
5-6 reed gasket seems to be .005
5-5 induction gasket seems to be the same .005
Now the 200470 reed gasket seems to be .017 13b engine
I thing your rite that gasket paper you have should work fine I don't think + or _ .001 would make a difference.
I thought that reed gasket was thinner but not by much.
Cylinder gasket 5-14 is .040 give or take
Cylinder gasket 5-15 is .030 give or take
Muffler gasket 5-16 13 .040 give or take so it could be cut out of the center of the 5-14 to save waist

CNew got a reaction from factory in O&R Type 98 Engine
Not 100% certain but this engine may have gone to a Rota Shear lawn edger. I came across this website and it looks to be a similar color. I contacted the owner and asked if he would post some additional photos. Look at the additional link on this page next to the little pics where he added some really nice high resolution photos.

CNew reacted to JUST O&R in NOS and or Used parts trade
I think you have been hacking my computer I was looking at that stuff this morning. That first one would work for the cylinder gaskets
but I thing the reed, induction gasket are to thin. By the way I went throw the mail tonight and low and behold Clint sent me some gasket paper
This looks great for the induction gasket but the reed gasket seems a lot thinner.
And with out a doubt we need to send David some . At lest he would have seen my part# screw up and would have told me about it.
some experts you are
I rely hope David is reading this post I think it would keep him smiling

CNew reacted to Wallfish in Ohlsson & Rice (O&R) engine powered tools
Recently bought this unique and rare O&R tool. Beacon Star lapidary saw used for cutting rocks or stone out in the field.
It's been gone through and cleaned.

Not sure of this manufacturer for the carb. Maybe @Webhead knows?
Here's a pic of an Octura carb.

CNew got a reaction from pmackellow in Ohlsson Rice: Orline Exhaust Fan / Sold as a Manhole Fan?
Now that’s more like it, it only took 4 days shipping for this one to arrive. I’ll add more photos this weekend. If this was used as a manhole fan that would explain some of the corrosion, sewer gases. This thing is going to be a project but also a really fun one.

CNew reacted to Wallfish in Before the O&R section was created
Just happened across this thread while searching for something else. This was posted before we had the O&R section so I don't think some of the tools were ever posted in here.

CNew reacted to Wallfish in Using Citrus degreaser
Instructions: Take your pants out of her pocketbook and put them on. just mess'n with ya!
I have a home office upstairs so doing stuff like this isn't typically a problem. These are tiny small so it's not a problem so far. She can't stand the stink of gas and especially that old gas smell. Any solvent would be a big problem too but this citrus degreaser has opened up a whole new opportunity for me to work on stuff when I can. I don't typically ask for permission, just wait for the complaining to start and deal with then. So far so good with this stuff and she hasn't noticed a thing. Spraying them outside first works real good to dumb down the gas smell. It doesn't seem to affect the paint either so...
The idiot that shipped the TT400 didn't drain the 40 year old gas out so the whole thing was covered in it from rolling around inside the bubble wrap during shipping. Can't believe the post office didn't flag it for hazardous material because the whole package stunk so bad. Sprayed it outside, gave it a quick wipe down and brought it in the house. She never noticed or said a thing and believe you me, she doesn't pass on ANY opportunity to complain! After treating that gas tank it doesn't stink anywhere near like it did before.

Brake fluid will swell rubber to just don't leave the seal in there long or it will fit your ridding mower.

CNew reacted to Wallfish in Using Citrus degreaser
Here's a long bristle brush, kind of expensive but...
I typically get a bunch of cheapies at the engine shows from the vendors, they're like 3 for $1 but will maybe check this one out too.

Old toothbrushes work well too for most things

CNew reacted to Wallfish in Using Citrus degreaser
Haven't tried other brands yet. Picked this one off the shelf at Home Depot because it was cheap. It doesn't have a strong citrus smell either. Just very subtle. It's still a messy job. Forgot to mention I use a small bristle brush too, looks like a tooth brush but has longer bristles to reach down in there.
There's also citrus paint remover which works well. The wife had some so I stole the bottle one day to try. It works well but not as fast as solvent based but the trade off is worth it.
