    Finally got the saw back together. That took way too long. It’s been busy but it feels good to finish this project. I may tackle the Chug-a-Drill next...

    Found this old advert under completed listings on ePay, thought I would add it here (I've updated the title too).

    Merc-O-tronic min-i-pump model 600 advert cut-out from Organic Gardening and Farming magazine, month/week of issue is unknown but the page shows the price offer expired end of December 1966.

    Might be cheaper to buy another engine than that piston.

    The gaskets for the induction housing & reed valve must be the same thickness as the original, they changed them at some point in production.

    P.S. With ePay links you can cut off everything to the right of the item number & it'll still work.

    Measurements from two diaphragm arm springs.

    Length (L) = 0.571", 0.575"
    Width (W) = 0.243", 0.247"
    Gap (A) = 0.130", 0.132"
    Section (B) = 0.053", 0.057", 0.058"
    Section (C) = 0.096", 0.098"
    Thickness = 0.003"
    Bend at end of spring (top of picture) = approx 0.040" to 0.050" from end, use round nose pliers for this.

    Yes he does have an O&R with the Octura rotary valve (& water cooled cylinder), but it was a bit camera shy when he was restoring it , hopefully another will turn up eventually as I wouldn't expect it will need opening up anytime soon.

    It's now in the White Heat in the first post here;

    I only sent a message to advise them it was not as described, they wouldn't want someone to claim for this when it arrives and is found not to be an O&R or Orline.  No interest in buying at that price even if it had international shipping, same goes for the actual O&R powered tools he has.

    I can't tell you exactly what the rotary valve looks like as I haven't seen the parts, but it will be something similar to rotary valve used on the pre-Compact model engines. The reed valve assembly & PTO shaft will be replaced with parts with holes machined into them,  to allow fuel through at a certain point in the rotation when the holes in the bearing plate & shaft line up.

    You can see the hole in the crankshaft that lines up with the carb port in the sectioned Ohlsson 29 engines.

    And the crankshaft has a hole through to the crankcase as seen in my Ohlsson 60.

    Many more engines had the Octura carb fitted than the rotary valve, it's entirely up to you if you want to use one or not, note the fuel tank cannot be fitted the carb above as they sometimes are, unless you want the fuel to slowly leak out through the carb.

    Picked up another Lancaster like yours David.  Super dirty but should clean up pretty well. It was missing the air filter but fortunate I have one from an earlier junker saw that I got a long time ago. It’s also missing the wire to the toggle switch but that’s an easy fix.

    While waiting on material, figured I would get the shape of the spring down.

    Printed a couple trial and errors and think I have the shape close but seems a little long when compared to the original pieces. Anyone have measurements or could measure a good factory piece? Thanks.

    Thanks for the links. I haven't dug around much on Ebay for parts. Looks like I need to. Will need to get one of those gasket sets for the diaphragm. My other pieces seem fine but would like to replace the plastic check valve also.

    Think I'll try my luck with making the rod. I have some other things to order from McMaster.

    I hadn't seen that thread on the springs but had the same thought about cutting one out of 1095 spring steel material. My original pieces measure about .004". I have access to a 40w laser as well. Not sure if it will cut shim material or not. Should at least make a nice pattern to trace using dykem.

    Here are some photos of the TAS P7 ice auger, it cleaned up pretty well. I had to replace the kill switch and make a new carb diaphragm and gasket, replaced the fuel and vent lines and the spark plug and it fired right up.

    Some more pictures of the handle, outside diameter is approx 10", the height from the flat section is approx 9½" and the tube is approx ½" diameter.

    The flat section is approx 1, 15/16" by 1, 11/16" with a hole to suit the switch fitted, I suspect my switch has been replaced judging by how chewed up the nut is.

    Finally had the chance to add one of these to the collection.  It’s too bad it’s missing the circular handle but it’s still super cool. The tank is pretty dinged up and it’s been used over it’s life. Overall it’s in ok condition, can’t be choosers... They seem to come up so rarely that I figured I better jump while I could. I missed out on one of these on eBay a couple years ago that was in incredible shape and went for a bargain. At that time I had only been collecting for a couple months and had no idea how rare they were.

    If anyone comes across an extra handle, please let me know and I’d gladly buy it.  Or, if someone has a good way to replicate one I would consider that too.

    A bit of using online translate to French (Carbra taille haie) & I've found another here;

    Apparently the 20A333 engine is the correct engine for this Carbra hedge trimmer, the information I have states that this engine was first used in 8-27-73, which matches the date coded into the serial number.

    And the Carbra hedge cutters are French, which may explain why they aren't very common in the UK.

    CNew reacted to factory in CARBRA Hedge Trimmer with Model 20A engine
    I can't believe what my brother brought back from the local car boot sale this morning, an Orline (Edit: actually a CARBRA) hedge trimmer with an O&R model 20A engine!!
    I don't think I've seen a model 20A engine on a hedge trimmer before and the it's first 20A I've seen in the UK (apart from on a chainsaw I have, but that was imported from the US).

    It has been repainted at some point in the past, but the back of the engine housing still has the some of the original white paint on it though. The engine is a model 20A type 333, seems they riveted the model & serial number plates to the 20A engines instead of using the cylinder plate that gets lost on the later 13A/B engines.

    CNew got a reaction from factory in O&R ORline Air Compressor (Compressor made by W.R. Brown)
    In case anyone is curious what the inside of one of these compressors looks like.  The diaphragm on this one is slightly deformed in one spot. It’s surprisingly pliable and looks like it should work ok if air doesn’t leak past the deformed area.  I might try to make a new one or I might just leave it, not like this thing will get a lot of use.
