  1. Mine was a 2001 Chevrolet Venture Minivan.  It was my first Chevy (and my last) and I hated it from day 1.  One day we went to church, it was raining and we went in side.  The van had a power door and when we came back out the inside was completely drenched because the door opened by itself.  Chevy's response: can't reproduce it.  When stopped on a hill, just removing your foot from the brake the van would roll backwards as though it was in neutral. Chevy's response: Some models do that, nothing we can do.

Parts would fall off, the thing was just a complete nightmare. We bought it brand new, and 4 months later dumped it and got a Ford Windstar which had no problems.

  2. Back when I was a kid, we had "Moped's" which were supposed to be motorized bicycles.  They did have pedals but the manual pedal was geared so high that it would take you 200 revolutions to move a meter!  Well maybe not that many :)

At that time, there were inexpensive motor ad-on's for regular bicycles which resembled your picture.

  3. That is some beautiful country side where you are!  We're having one of those winters in New York where it's not snowing much, but it's been so cold that what we have stays around for a long time.  While it's beautiful in the beginning, it eventually loses its luster and looks quite dismal.

  4. The website to purchase the book is http://wheelhorsestory.com  I administer that site technically (but have nothing to do with the business end).  Michael had me remove the shipping options for non-USA addresses since it was expensive and too difficult to calculate.  If you're interested in buying a book, send an e-mail to email: orders@wheelhorsestory.com and Michael can help you with options.

Yes, the first edition draws a lot on ebay and such, which is odd since the final edition has 100% of the original content PLUS more, and better quality pictures.

  5. Welcome to My Old Machine and thank you for joining.  A quick introduction to some of the features of our forum.

Everyone who has registered for an account on MoM can access their "User Control Panel or Settings" by clicking on your account name at the top right of the screen and clicking on "My Settings" This will allow you to add an "Avatar" which is a small picture you see on everyone's posts by their name, adjust your time zone, and change / add information about yourself.

On the left of that screen there are additional settings such as "Signature" which allow you to include a signature at the bottom of each of your posts.

You can also manage other aspects of your account such as Facebook integration by clicking "Manage Facebook"

If you're receiving too much e-mail from the forum, or not enough you can change your notification options by selecting "Notification Options"  Here you can choose to not be notified (remove checks from boxes) or notified by e-mail, and / or Notification List which display in your notifications area on the forum (the little icon of a man next to your account name at the top of the forum)

You will also find other options such as the option to ignore other members posts, which I hope isn't needed.

So look around in your settings, become accustom with your configuration to personalize your experience here.  Of course of you have questions, be sure to post them in our "Site Suggestions / Updates & Issues" area where you will receive prompt answer to your forum related question.

Thank you for reading and enjoy the site!

  6. I don't have a first edition, but have a second and final.  I must say that the final edition is very nice indeed.  It's packed full of interesting information on Wheel Horse, but more importantly the early years of Garden tractors which the Ponds played a big part in.  In May, preparation for the Wheel Horse Collectors Club show, RedSquare will raffle ONE or TWO of these books which you all are invited to participate in.

The shipping to the UK is expensive, but if there were several of you who were interested, I could group a bunch together for you and send them to the UK where you could distribute them.  I would suspect that the shipping would be far less than individually sent from here.
