  1. Sam the hitch will not fit a TF Bolens. As for price I think you will be paying a lot more than you would want. Best not to advertise to everyone what you seen as everyone will know about it now.....

BTW, on another sad note GTTalk is near death as well. Most of moderators and many of the members have jumped ship to a site called Tractor Fanatics. I was member number 2 at GTTalk and not long after it went on air I knew this would happen. I'm only surprised it to took this long, but its been going downhill for the last several years after the founding member/owner sold it to mega bucks media company. Everythings about the money with some guys.

Alain, yes GTT is slowly disintegrating and many have migrated over to Tractor Fanatics as well as social media like Face Book. A shame as I like the forum very much and made some good 'cyber' friends on there. I know of several enthusiasts who have sadly passed on in the last year in both the Bolens and Morris LCV world.

Sad to hear. He lost his wife not long ago I think.

Yes his wife died a few years earlier prompting Dave to sell up his collection  and go on a tour of the USA in his motor caravan called HMS Rainmaker. He wrote some very amusing blogs about his adventures and catching up with old friends and fellow Bolens enthusiasts.

  3. Norm, I would be very interested in seeing how this experiment works as turf tyres are the de rigour for mowing.duties. The ag tyres will leave tread marks on the grass in my experience. Anyway be interested to see how you fare. Photos or no photos...;)

  4. Scott, once you get that engine up and running it will motivate you to clean off all that rust and crud on the chassis. These Bolens are incredibly well made and you will be pleased with it.

  5. I spoke to Iain and he suggested that you start looking at the dyna start to see if it runs and work back from there. The ignition switch can also be a cause of it not starting as can a dud solenoid. I can't see why you can't connect your jump leads on the solenoid to see if that works. The seized pto and high / low lever should not impede firing up the engine.

  6. There is a YT video about firing up a Bolens 850. If I can find it I will give you the link.

Have you looked at the points yet?

Also what's the serial number on your tractor?

  7. Kevin and Ethan, just a short message to say many thanks for organising a great weekend at Biddenden and I am sorry I could only do the Saturday as I needed to get back to Devon to meet up with our builders yesterday (Monday). Great to meet up with like minded enthusiasts too. All the best to you two guys.

  8. Look forward to seeing updates Scott. When you drain the transmission oil be sure to use GL1 spec oil as the gears are bronze.

As far as I am aware and understand the cut out on the bonnet are for the later models. I looked at my 850 today and that bonnet is the same as my 1050 which got no cut out. I am sure a more knowledgeable Bolens expert will confirm it.

i can thoroughly recommend both Rick and Brian from the USA on Bolens parts. Check out GTT Bolens Forum and see their respective websites.
