B115 with Briggs engine help

Recommended Posts

Got a Briggs engine in my B115 and need a bit of info on the wiring. Model 284707, type 1186-e1, code 980821ze. Can someone tell me where the red and black wires go and the single black go, see photo

Red is charge, black is kill. I might have the opposing connextor... But would need a clear picture. I use the same connector types on all my rewire jobs so that engine lifts out easier.

I'll bow to Mark's knowledge on the wiring.

What confused me is the Engine numbers are for a 12hp 1998 engine and maybe should 284707-1136-e1 ?.

Also the B-115 was last built in 1984 I believe (12-11BP02) and had an 11hp 253707 motor.  So we assume it was re-engined at some stage.

Parts diagram for that Tractor model shows the Red and Black (with connector) coming from the Dual Alternator which possibly supplies lights and Battery charging separately?.

Afraid my Briggs Workshop Manual only goes up to about 1982. I'll see if I can find a proper Wiring Diagram for a B-115 and go from there.

The single black lead with the blue connector is the kill wire, on no account let 12v near it!!!!!

As has been said, the red to the double plug is the DC charge lead - you can see the rectifying diode, the lump in the wire just sbove the plug. The black lead to the two pin plug is an AC supply , usually used for lights.

Thanks wrist pin , all your feedback is very helpful, it getting clearer, hate buying stuff that's been half done, there was very little wiring on the tractor so I guess I'm going to have to start from scratch
