John Deere Gator drive

its weired its  sort of electric and petrol like a golf buggy you put it in gear then turn the ignition on but nothing happens so you hit the throttle then it goes along on the sort of dynostart then the engine kicks in

Yes, they are weird Nigel.  Had a play with a golf buggy a few years ago while over the pond.  Have some photo's of the works somewhere.  Can't quite remember how it all worked but the petrol engine was VERY quiet. Something different.

It's a strange machine indeed Alan, the steering has a good feel to it but the throttle pedal almost needs two feet to operate, it's that heavy!

maybe it starts the engine with a kickstart :lol:
