  1. The bit on top of the valve cover is a breather. Dont worry though paul at meetens has told me where it is. Above the dipstick is a crankcase breather, you fill it through there
  2. Might seem a silly question but have drainsd the oil but cant find a filler plug. Theres a plug at the bottom for draining and a dipstick above it. Thats all i can see. Maybe i am the dipstick. Anyone know how to put oil in? Paul
  3. Hi All I have contacted stationary engine parts and asked on another forum what size belt goes on this engine to cool the rad. They have told me to measure it, just wondering if anybody does know the size to save me the hassle? Paul
  4. Hi. Engine coming on now. Electrics all sorted. Have managed to get a spares manual so just need to get a fuel pipe and throttle cable then i will see if it runs. Paul
  5. Hi, I found out some more on this. It is a 120cc model g as you say Richard. The r stands for reduction gear. I have found the bottom of the cowling has rusted away from being on the floor, I have cut the bits out and welded new in. I followed your advise about classic bike companies and now have new points and condenser on the way. The points setting is stamped on the flywheel. I have managed to source a manual and recoil spring (still waiting to hear back). Thanks Paul
  6. Hi All, Have got another engine, No not out the normal barn. Problem I have is I have never seen one before, so know nothing about it. The stickers on the fuel tank say BSA POWER UNIT. I found some markings on the bottom of the block saying 120-RG-3127. Can anyone identify it by these numbers and letters so I can try and get a handbook for it? It didn't work when I got it, would turn over but recoil rope wouldn't go back in, had a look and the tension spring has rusted through also there was no compression so took rocker cover off and found a valve stuck and push rod flapping in the wind. I have sorted the valve now so I have compression. Havent got a clue about any settings though yet. Paul
  7. I grew up around this series (worlwide) of internationals as the farm i live on always had them. Then they went on to the 85 series with the xl cabs on, there is still a 956 xl four wheeldrive here earning its keep. Also my dad was a fitterfor a local dealer here before the franchise was taken over by john deere. I love em. Paul
  8. Hi All, Welded the frost crack up now, also the engine is on its new trolley so I can move it about. It has all been cleaned up degreased and some undercoat on for the winter. The other parts I have at home to do over the winter. Ie the head, valves, fan and radiator. O also Nigels wifes hand bag (still stinks of diesel). Paul
  9. Where I work there are loads of watercress beds. They have always had kubotas and I dont think I have ever seen any break down yet. There is also quite a few dealers for them around this area. (Hampshire)
  10. HI I found a small frost crack in the barrel today. Will get it sorted tomorrow though. I will drill a hole at either end to the depth of the crack to stop the crack spreading then heat it in the oven at work to about 300 degrees then weld it up with cast rods then let it cool slowly. That will sort it. Don't think there's any other major problems at the moment (fingers crossed). Paul
  11. Hi All I didn't get round to putting the engine on its new trolley over the weekend but managed to get the gib keys out and remove the flywheels. That took most of Saturday, problem is it gets dark quick now or is it that it gets later earlier. Here is some pics. Paul
  12. Hi I have been drilling 30mm holes through 25mm thick plate at work today and we use a heavy duty arbour in a pillar drill . The bits are held in with two grub screws and they have teeth like a hole saw but are fluted, in the centre of this there is a pin which picks up on a centre dot and at the other end in the arbour is a spring loaded ball bearing so when the bit goes through this activates the spring to push the wasted drilled bit off. They are made by rotobore and are, and we use a lot in magnetic drills for drilling rafters and such on buildings in sitchu
  13. Hi Paul I see the little Gardenmaster made it then. Have you had it running yet? Paul
  14. I have two snow ploughs. One for the merry tiller and the other for the allen scythe, neither has been used in anger yet after about three winters of having them. It seems to flood more down here than snow. Paul
  15. Hope your mrs does'nt want it back nigel , it stinks of diesel, no hole in it though so will have to see if your wifes left some money in it. Still judging be the other witty comments the smell could be a dead cat. Joke on the side it does have a badge on it but cant remember what it says, I will look. The cap on it is stamped B P (British Petroleum I suppose). I have just made the trolley for the engine today as the one on it was completely rotted so hopefully I can put it on and move it about this weekend. Paul
  16. Hi All This is the last engine in the mentioned barn, a Lister CS 6/1. I thought the engine was seized but when drained about 3 litres of water out it turned over as you can see the bore dosent look to bad. Just got to free most the moving parts up now. Paul
  17. Hi In answer to your question Norm, that's the way they came off the pole when they were trailed and I have checked and been told they can be used either way. Here is some more the same way. Paul
  18. Hi All, Thought I would just show you these that I have made in the last week. I had some harrows that were just towed which is a pain as I would have to put them on a trailer all the time so I thought I would make life easier by putting them in a frame. The frame is 40x40 box and I also made some legs so it isn't always on the ground. The chain in the middle to stop them sagging is the original towing chain. The size is 2 meters square. When I looked on the auction site they were going for £ 250- £500 mine cost me about £50 plus my time. I only had to pay for the box and the shackles everything else has been kicking about here and the harrows were in a hedge surplus to requirements. Paul
  19. Hi All The drills all finished now just need to find some info on it. Paul
  20. Thats ok paul. Look forward to some pictures when you have it all up and running. Paul
  21. should get my copy tomorrow so would be great to see the section back.
  22. Hi Paul. I have sent you a pm about this. Paul
  23. Hi All Just the handles to do nowPaul
  24. Thanks all. I would rather see these and other items back to their former glory rather than rotting in a corner or the fate of the scrapyard especially when they are our heritige. You know when Britain made things. Paul
  25. Yes it does have wooden handles but one is broken so will have to sort out a new one. I have a large veggie garden so it may get some use. Paul
