That is good, like you say its amazing what people can do. I quite often go to the New Forest show and watch the axe men where you see them carving totem poles with chainsaws. Great to watch. Paul
  3. I like that a lot. I have refurbed a few of them with my dad and that one looks great, even better now the right way up, I meant the picture not the tractor. Paul
  4. Thanks paul. I have sent Jim a pm cheers
  5. Hi All Got this yesterday. A Allen & Simmonds horti culto with four sets of blades and a spare set of wheels. It has a Villiers mk7 engine on it but no spark as yet. Any info on these machines would be great as I have never seen one. Paul
  6. Guess what! It took some time but I have come across the holder for the above taps I mentioned. It is soaking in diesel at the moment, I will have a go at getting it working tomorrow then post some pics of it. Paul

    xmas

Hi Everybody, Just to wish everyone involved with this excellent forum a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS and BEST WISHES FOR NEXT YEAR. From Paul & family
  10. Yes Stormin it does slide to one side to lift the breather out which sits in a slot like a slide to let the oil go into the cavity by the valve guides which is where the oil seeps down. You learn something new everyday. If I get bored tomorrow I may sharpen some drill bits. Paul
  11. Hi All, The BSA is now finished and powering a bench grinder. Just got to sort some decals and a proper base. Paul
  12. Hi All, Guess what. There was no filler plug or crankcase breather above the dipstick, if you take the rocker cover off and valve breather, there is a trough where the valve push rods are, you fill that and it seeps down the side of the guides, quite quickly as well. So that's that problem sorted. (next) Forgot to say WELL DONE Stormin you were right
  13. Wishing you all the best mate and hope all goes ok. Just remember the dog will always be happy to see you whatever the day brings. Will catch up with you some when. Best wishes Paul, Gill, Girls and the furry friend you met Fletcher
  14. The bit on top of the valve cover is a breather. Dont worry though paul at meetens has told me where it is. Above the dipstick is a crankcase breather, you fill it through there
  15. Might seem a silly question but have drainsd the oil but cant find a filler plug. Theres a plug at the bottom for draining and a dipstick above it. Thats all i can see. Maybe i am the dipstick. Anyone know how to put oil in? Paul
  16. Hi All I have contacted stationary engine parts and asked on another forum what size belt goes on this engine to cool the rad. They have told me to measure it, just wondering if anybody does know the size to save me the hassle? Paul
  17. Hi. Engine coming on now. Electrics all sorted. Have managed to get a spares manual so just need to get a fuel pipe and throttle cable then i will see if it runs. Paul
  18. Hi, I found out some more on this. It is a 120cc model g as you say Richard. The r stands for reduction gear. I have found the bottom of the cowling has rusted away from being on the floor, I have cut the bits out and welded new in. I followed your advise about classic bike companies and now have new points and condenser on the way. The points setting is stamped on the flywheel. I have managed to source a manual and recoil spring (still waiting to hear back). Thanks Paul
  19. Hi All, Have got another engine, No not out the normal barn. Problem I have is I have never seen one before, so know nothing about it. The stickers on the fuel tank say BSA POWER UNIT. I found some markings on the bottom of the block saying 120-RG-3127. Can anyone identify it by these numbers and letters so I can try and get a handbook for it? It didn't work when I got it, would turn over but recoil rope wouldn't go back in, had a look and the tension spring has rusted through also there was no compression so took rocker cover off and found a valve stuck and push rod flapping in the wind. I have sorted the valve now so I have compression. Havent got a clue about any settings though yet. Paul
  20. I grew up around this series (worlwide) of internationals as the farm i live on always had them. Then they went on to the 85 series with the xl cabs on, there is still a 956 xl four wheeldrive here earning its keep. Also my dad was a fitterfor a local dealer here before the franchise was taken over by john deere. I love em. Paul
  21. Hi All, Welded the frost crack up now, also the engine is on its new trolley so I can move it about. It has all been cleaned up degreased and some undercoat on for the winter. The other parts I have at home to do over the winter. Ie the head, valves, fan and radiator. O also Nigels wifes hand bag (still stinks of diesel). Paul
  22. Where I work there are loads of watercress beds. They have always had kubotas and I dont think I have ever seen any break down yet. There is also quite a few dealers for them around this area. (Hampshire)
  23. Hi , Thinking of selling my little wonder lawn edger as it is not used and could do with the space it is all working. Open to offers. This IS WHEN I FIRST GOT IT, HAS ALL BEEN PUT BACK TO NEW CONDITION Paul
  24. HI I found a small frost crack in the barrel today. Will get it sorted tomorrow though. I will drill a hole at either end to the depth of the crack to stop the crack spreading then heat it in the oven at work to about 300 degrees then weld it up with cast rods then let it cool slowly. That will sort it. Don't think there's any other major problems at the moment (fingers crossed). Paul
