Hi Patrick if it is a bing carburetor check the float it may be filled with petrol causing the float to sink and cause flooding Leave the petrol in float fill a tray with very hot water, submerse the float in the water hold it down .
if there is petrol in the float is will come out like a little stream of bubbles mark where it comes out and lightly solder it hope this helps
I think it was made round so that it did not snag on bushes ,trees,shrubs and plants This only my thoughts on the matter but I could be wrong, bearing in mind it was made for allotments and gardens

Ian you can sit on it and drive ,turn the handles and and looks as if you are pushing but it is under power as mine is driven with a Titan with reverse gear you have lots of options these are photos of me sitting and driving the truck
Kermit started life in Wales in 1959 Had an engine transplant 1961 Bought by someone in the Kidderminster area I bought it and two ploughs rear toolbar with furrow ploughs and front furrow ploughs
It is fitted with a C45 Norton Villiers engine it is certainly different sounds well
The truck was bought from Gordon Smiths estate He died in 2012 I am restoring it in his memory This is my first attempt at restoration thanks to Rollomans help it turned out OK
