  8. its good to be with folk with liberated views your totally right nigel i think it came under the umbrella of mend and make do . so if it didn't fit and you needed it to you would take it to the smithy and he made it fit. I guess we have evolved though as most of us have a welder and a have a go attitude.
  9. think its fair to say that most of us are optimists especially when we spend hours trying to convince our respective partners, family members and friends that the latest piece of rusty iron is indeed a thing of real wonderment, but there really are no positives from this flood water is dangerous stuff and for you guys affected by this my heart goes out to you. Stay safe and hopefully those who needed to wake up and smell the coffee will do so, so that incidents like this become a thing of the past to late for you at this time. To top it of i know that some of the worst affected areas have had insurance declined or heavily restricted which means that many will have to foot the repair bills themselves its so wrong that those responsible for maintaining our waterways have penny pinched for years and cost normal folk millions if there is ever an example of false economy !! and he swiftly steps of the soap box
  10. thanks for putting these photo's on nigel its a real insight of the workers and the conditions they had to work on plus the varied machine they worked with, i especially like the easy rider power major the chap looks so laid back and happy. Steve don't know bout your dad but if i had to go down the mines the only thing that would of been on my mind would be returning to ground level and drawing in a breath of the fresh air again lol

Hope your conversion goes well some folk aren't keen on that sort of thing but im up for it and will be chopping up a trusty plough to fit on to my garden tractor pictures and postings to follow once i've worked out how to lol. hope that chopping up a trusty plough does not offend any one on here as those on the dark side were most offended lol
