  1. Hi all, I am looking to extend my barford atom collection and am interested in any barford atoms or attachments you may have. I am located in Norfolk but am willing to travel a reasonable distance! Thanks, Tom
  2. Hi, Great conversion! I got my hands on one of these sickle bars the other night for the grand total of £10, I look forward to seeing it all painted up and mounted in your tractor. What is the width of yours? I know there were three different widths made: 18", 24" and 36". Tom
  3. Hi, Nice generator! I have a petter AA1 also and it's a great engine, will run all day on next to no fuel and starts easy! great little engine Tom
  4. That's quite understandable, there's not really many members from my area on here so I'll be sure to take lots of photos for you all!! Tom
  5. Hi all, Thanks for all your positive comments! I'm sure it do-able, especially with your fabbing skills! It probably wouldn't be best to use one of these sort of scythes as the "PTO" is specific to this machine however there are scythes that use belt-drive, I think wolesely is one. It would definitely be a great project! Tom
  6. Hi all, Was just wondering if any of you guys were attending this show? It's on the 29th and 30th of March, I have only just seen it and will definitely be going and having a look around! Tom
  7. Hi all, Picked up this little beauty today, it's pretty much untouched and all original, the guy hadn't used it in ages and wanted to get rid of it so I bought it. Brought her home and after a little help with some petrol down the plug she fired away first pull. The drive works as does the scythe. She just needs a good steam cleaning, air filter assembly, new throttle cable and a new cork on the fuel tap, but other than that shes in great orignal condition. For now I'm just going to keep her in her working clothes I think. The scythe takes about 30 seconds to remove or install, it's very simple!! Tom
  8. A very, very nice find! If you only you were closer.. Tom
  9. Hi Andrew, Thank you very much, although I have to admit the pictures make it look better than it is! The paint I've used seems to be OK however to be honest I haven't used it that much it's mainly sat in a building. It's funny you should bring this thread up as yesterday I dug out the original engine and got her up and running, well she fires so I think a good carb clean is the next step. In addiction to this I've extended my barford collection as I bought a barford atom mechanical gardener yesterday, it also comes with a scythe. It's in working order but could do with a little TLC. I'm really hooked on these now and I'm already planning a build for a trailer! Tom
  10. Hi Andrew, I can't recall seeing a barford atom with a villiers type sump like that however if you couldn't find the right style sump for that I'm sure you could add some sort of mounting plate that suits that engine. I did the same as I put a briggs on my barford atom and had to make a mounting plate for it. Sorry I can't be of much help. Tom
  11. Hi Mark, Following this closely, it is looking really good so far! If your 4x4 wheel horse is anything to go by I imagine this one will exceed all expectations! Tom

    Kohler K181

Hi all, I am after a Kohler k181, I don't mind whether it is running or not running. Thanks, Tom
  13. Thanks for the positive comments guys! Hopefully one day I will get to show some of my machinery, it is really something id like to do!
  14. Hi Richard, Sorry I don't have any manuals for these but I am quite familiar with these machines, I had around 3 at one point but have since sold them all. They are good little machines and will handle rough grass fairly easily with sharp blades. If you need any help just give me a shout and I can do my best to help you! Tom
  15. Awesome pictures! My favourite pictures are the ones where a tractor is working, they're just great.
  16. Thank you, it's a nice feeling to think that you have saved a piece of history from rusting to nothing(which by the looks of things was what was going to happen to it!) Thanks Ian, it's a great little machine, it's ever so simple to work but quite an animal once it gets going! Thank you very much Neil although I am far from it! Thanks Mark, it's actually a very nice red, maybe I should have painted my 856 with it, hmm! I may have to repaint one of my other horses with it,!
  17. Hi all, Just thought I'd share my barford atom, I bought it quite a while ago and not too long ago re-painted it. I actually bought a mower off of the bay of E and when I collected it they asked if I'd be interested in a walk-behind tractor, so I went and looked at it and ended up buying it at what I thought was a very good price. This was as I bought it: It came with a villiers engine which didn't run, it also came with a plough, cultivator, crumbler and wheel weights. I took it apart and was left with this: I ended up hand painting this one use Crown paint, I used flame red which turned out to be a very nice red. I then started to reassemble it. I had a pretty new 8hp briggs sitting at home unused so decided to put this on it while I got the villiers running. I then painted the plough and had a play with it. Since then I've only really played with it and it's just sat in my shed, it's nowhere near up to show standard hence why I'd like to strip it down and repaint it. I'm also hoping to start on the villiers engine soon and get that fitted, it's on the to-do list! Thanks for looking, Tom
  18. Well it is 13 years older than me haha!
  19. Awesome crawlers! I'd love a little tracked tractor they look great!
  20. Wow that's doing well! Have you got any pics of her? Tom
  21. I love them, how do you find the Isuzu engine? My dad drives a 1997 300tdi 90 and I couldn't fault, my dad uses it mainly for towing duties and boy does it tow well! Some great, interseting hobbies you have guys, keep them coming, I love hearing about what other peoples hobbies are! Tom
  22. West ham fan you say... I'm a norwich fan!! Poor defeat the other night, but a good win for you, I'm not too sure if we will be staying up this season or not... I have to admit I've never really been into F1, I just don't find it that interesting but each to their own! My uncle however is mad about it! Tom
  23. Hi all, I just thought it would be interesting to share any other hobbies besides our vintage machinery we may have... I myself am very much into my marine aquariums, I had one up until recently where I had to sell up due to me now having enough time to keep it running efficiently because of school which was a great downer for me as I really enjoyed watching it, I could watch it for hours and not get bored! I am also into my landrovers, I am of course not old enough to drive but I'm always working on my dad's defender when it needs it or cleaning it for him, they are by far my favourite vehicles! In addition to this I am into my quad bikes and have around 3 of them, they are great fun and are great for pulling sleds, unfortunetly this year I haven't been able to yet! So lets hear all of your other hobbies...! Tom
  24. Thanks guys, it's a real nice colour! I can't wait to start painting! Tom
