Nice find, it's a cool looking tractor!

Hi Jackthehat,
Nice tractor you have there. Regarding the transmission problem if the gears are grinding when you put them in it's probably because the transmission is still spinning so try to avoid this as it can cause damage. Do you have a belt guard in place? I can't see from the pictures. Also, do you have any belt guides in place? These will help shape the belt so that it does touch or grip the engine pulley meaning the belt shouldn't spin.

Hi Andrew,
We well that stuff at my work and use it on some of the smaller machinery. I am by far no expert but I have heard some people experiencing problems with the fuel, that after using the fuel the engine starts to run rough, that's on two stroke by the way.

Very nice. Your workshop looks very clean and tidy too, wish our workshop at work was that nice!

Hi Rayp,
What will you be doing with your compressor? I recommend you get the biggest compressor your budget will allow. I started off with a 50l compressor like you are thinking and found when it came to spraying or using the plasma cutter it couldn't keep up and was constantly on. However I upgraded to a Clarke 200l compressor which produces 14cfm per minute and it's the best thing I ever bought. I run a variety of different things on it; from blow guns to spray guns to my plasma cutter to my sand blaster and it keeps up no problem and delivers a good pressure.
If you aren't going to be using it for air demanding accessories such as sandblasting then a 50l would most likely suffice but I bet you would want to upgrade in the near future! Good luck on deciding what to get and most imprtantly let us know how you get on and what you get.

Cool pictures Chris! That Kinkade garden tractor is very unusual but quite cool. I think I've seen one online somewhere before, if I remember correctly they were manufactured around 1929 ish.

I knew you would have it covered Look forward to seeing it all painted up, it will look awesome. Are you planning on using it in ploughing matches or just shows?

Thanks for posting this up Mark, really good idea and fabrication. Ignore me if I'm being stupid but does the lift bar you made interfere with the gear selector? It just looks a bit close in picture 4.

Looking really good mark, you have done an excellent job. Definitely post up a thread regarding the rocker shaft as I have been thinking about making one too and it would be interesting to see how you did yours.

I couldn't agree more, my dad uses his defender solely for work as he tows a lot of trailers and we had a Nissan Navara for a family car and longer journeys however it recently had a timing chain break.
Tom
It's not often this tidy!!
Tom
I think I remember seeing a picture of it somewhere Norm, very nice
Tom
Yours isn't that bad Ian :D

Trust me it's usually a mess! Mine is 1997 300tdi 90 defender, one of the last 300's Dad has also got a 96 300tdi 90 defender, we love them.

Hi all,
Had a tidy up a re-arrangement in my little shed this morning, I mainly use this for my lathe and reconditioning carbs and stripping down engines as it's well lit and warm! I also have some shelves which I store any lathe tools and barford atom spares. I have my larger garage but my land rover which is currently in bits has taken up most of this!!
Thanks for looking,
Tom

Looking forward to this, is that the rigid body or adjustable barford atom plough? I have always thought of doing this to one of mine..
Tom

Thanks Mark, I can't wait till it's a bit warmer which means more seat time!
Tom
Thanks Norm, I certainly think so too
A few more pictures

Thanks Paul

They were already on rims so I couldn't resist! While I had the wheels off I also tightened up the hubs as I think they had come a little loose but they are fine now
Was nice seeing you again Ian and I hope to see you and Nigel at one of the shows in the summer!

Thanks James
Tom
Likewise Nigel, looking forward to seeing your landy project finished

Thanks guys, really looking forward to picking it up now. I can't wait till I can start getting some proper seat time in the spring!
Tom
-
Thanks guys. I'm sure I will have lots of fun with this tractor!
Tom

I'm pretty sure you did, it was for sale 5 miles from me. From what I've heard there were only around 100 made, don't quote me on that though.

Hi Iain,
Hope you are well.
I am probably going to service it ready for work in the spring, some duties may include mowing, grading/scraping, towing trailers and eventually ploughing I hope. I have already got a set of ags lined up for it. You will have to come round for a cuppa soon and take a look.
