Hi all,
I acquired another couple of barford atoms the other day and set about getting one of them going. I cleaned and reset points and then setup the magneto timing, cleaned carb and reassembled. It ran first pull however after about 30 seconds the inside of the exhaust was cherry red and it was starting to spit flames. It would spit flames constantly. I let it cool and started it again and it did the same thing. Why is this? Is it something to do with fuel?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi all,
I have to admit I haven't had to sell many of my own collection yet although I did let my suburban go which I regretted a lot and I was lucky enough to buy it back, I definitely won't be letting that go again.
Another one I definitely won't let go is Ian's 312-8 as it's a really nice machine and I feel that it has a lot of sentimental value if you like within the wheel horse community as it was such a famous horse.

Hi all,
I used to have a marine fish tank, which I unforutnetly had to sell and I have to admit that I regret it and I miss it very much. Here are some shots I have found from when I had it.

Very very nice! I have always fancied a cub cadet, are you going to restore it or just get it going? I reckon an oily rag and that would come up really nice. Watching this closely

What a brilliant machine, didn't get stuck once today and boy it was muddy!

Very good information so far George. I have a few ploughs myself but haven't plucked up the courage to enter any ploughing matches yet as I really don't know where to start. I look forward to any further information and tips you have.

They would go mad if it was the lawn!! It's an old pig pen that my mum wanted turning over and then cultivating so she can seed it

Hi all,
As some of you may know I am quite keen on barford atoms and have a few now. It always intrigued me as to how many there were around and what ones have survived so I have been searching around for a registry, similar to something like Marks Wheel horse registry but have been unable to find one and I have been contemplating creating one. Does anyone know of any barford atom registers? I don't want to start one when there is already one created. I personally cannot find one as of yet.
Any help would be appreciated!
Kind regards,
Tom

Awesome looking Cub Cadet Chris! I really like the original look. I do like the look of the Cub cadets, do you use this one for any work?

I can only echo what has already been said, a great forum with lots of information and members who are more than willing to help. I am sure there will be many more years to come and I look forward to watching MOM grow.

Nice find, it's a cool looking tractor!

Hi Jackthehat,
Nice tractor you have there. Regarding the transmission problem if the gears are grinding when you put them in it's probably because the transmission is still spinning so try to avoid this as it can cause damage. Do you have a belt guard in place? I can't see from the pictures. Also, do you have any belt guides in place? These will help shape the belt so that it does touch or grip the engine pulley meaning the belt shouldn't spin.

Hi Andrew,
We well that stuff at my work and use it on some of the smaller machinery. I am by far no expert but I have heard some people experiencing problems with the fuel, that after using the fuel the engine starts to run rough, that's on two stroke by the way.

Very nice. Your workshop looks very clean and tidy too, wish our workshop at work was that nice!

Hi Rayp,
What will you be doing with your compressor? I recommend you get the biggest compressor your budget will allow. I started off with a 50l compressor like you are thinking and found when it came to spraying or using the plasma cutter it couldn't keep up and was constantly on. However I upgraded to a Clarke 200l compressor which produces 14cfm per minute and it's the best thing I ever bought. I run a variety of different things on it; from blow guns to spray guns to my plasma cutter to my sand blaster and it keeps up no problem and delivers a good pressure.
If you aren't going to be using it for air demanding accessories such as sandblasting then a 50l would most likely suffice but I bet you would want to upgrade in the near future! Good luck on deciding what to get and most imprtantly let us know how you get on and what you get.

Cool pictures Chris! That Kinkade garden tractor is very unusual but quite cool. I think I've seen one online somewhere before, if I remember correctly they were manufactured around 1929 ish.
