  1. A few photos if the tear down. Its surprising how quickly these Wheelhorses come apart. Someone must have had a problem with the belt slipping at one point and made up a couple of crude brackets. The rear most one was actually wearing away the back of the belt. That Kohler engine is one heavy son of a bitch. They are certainly made to last. The Wheelhorse has been painted at some point in its life and after the engine was removed i found a patch of the original paint, which was quite pink to my surprise. Most of the information i have found about paint colours say to use International Harvester 2150. The closest i can find, going by what was under the engine is Ral 3001 signal red. Now the work hard really begins, cleaning, sanding and painting.

    exhaust valve.

Would anyone have an exhaust valve for a Kohler K301s-47421D engine ? Just found out mine has a burnt valve which i cant get to seat fully. Thanks, Noel.
  3. Thank you. How much VAT are you allowed to add to 21 years old ? Noel.
  4. Thanks for all the info. Noel.
  5. Hi, when i got my Raider 12 someone had already taken most of the brushes out of the starter, so im at a bit of a loss to where everything goes. I think i have got the brushes in the correct way, What i need to know is, when the + bolt comes through the end case, in what order should the nuts and washers be stacked ? Is it the fiber/plastic washer first, then a nut, then a steel washer and then the second nut ? Thanks, Noel.
  6. Spent the morning pulling my daughter around in her sleigh behind my little green tractor. We had great fun, but now beside the fire trying to get thawed out !
  7. Woke up to a little bit of snow this morning. Its amazing that we are almost into February and this is the first snow we have got.
  8. My 11 year old daughter wants to know what a tape player is. Good job you didnt say 8 track !
  9. Eventually got my worktop folded and fitted. Just stuck it on with CT1 silicone. Got a shelf up and another under the work bench so i could keep the place looking tidy. Also made a bar to hold my grinders.
  10. Just got it as a project and to take it to vintage shows, although it is used round the farm every now and again.
  11. Lit a fire in the stove to burn off the yellow paint. Finally all finished with hot plate installed. Just needs a coat of high heat black paint to tidy it up.
  12. A little more progress today, got the exit fitted for the chimney and had to make a new grate out of 1/2" square bar as the cast iron one broke in two.
  13. Made a start to my stove today. Had to have a change of plans as i couldn't get a cutting of box section big enough, needed a bit 12in or bigger. So, plan B. Had a look about to see what i could use and decided to go the gas cylinder route. After deciding on the orientation of the stove i marked out the door size, then cut down the hinge side and welded on two trailer hinges. Then cut free the remaining three sides. Found an old grate and tin pan and cut to fit. Didn't want it to sit on the floor so raised it up on 16in legs. Ran out of welding wire so thats the end of progress for today.
  14. Picked up some 2mm galvanised tin and got it fitted.
  15. Not much progress, just primed and painted.
  16. Happy New Year and may the saddest day of your future be no worse than the happiest day of your past.
  17. Yes, just not very visable in the last photo.
  18. While waiting for the local engineering firm to open again to get the 2mm top folded up for my bench i thought i would make a start on my work table. All the 40 mm box steel cut to length and a few bits of 19mm as well. Starting to lay out the frame for the work top. Size is 2000mm x 1100mm. As i am only using 2mm sheet for the top, the extra internal bars will be carrying the weight of the tractors. My floor isn't very level so i have had to make adjustable feet. All six legs complete and ready to be welded to the frame. Legs tacked on and lower braces welded in place. Everything fully welded and ready for the wire wheel and some primer. Still need to make some ramps and get a top fitted.
  19. Got this about a year ago. 1978 International 784. Slowly starting to replace all the rusted parts, mechanically everything works fine.
  20. Not sure if you have seen this before but thought someone might be interested in this, it was a set of plans available in the 1960's by Popular Mechanics to build a "Pow'r Pup" garden tractor. on the "Large home tractor plans" about half way down the page. It might give you some ideas if you are building your own tractor. http://www.vintageprojects.com/tractors/garden-tractor-plans.html
  21. These are a couple of young lads from our side of the sheugh who go to vintage events and do silage demos. There other videos show them in action. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDyA4Dfv6pU&feature=youtu.be At the start of the below video you can see my daughter and myself in the background. Korin is in the green and yellow overalls and i am standing directly behind her. At 3:19 you can also see Gary (Minky) sitting on his Bolens HT20 in the background. https://youtu.be/qthw0vEr-8E https://youtu.be/Lh0X-HUD838 https://youtu.be/Nj9S6xzNhQM Edit, Other videos added.
